here's my situation, i used nvidia 8800gts on my old intel mobo..then recently, i just bought a new mobo, and new psu for sli capability..but the mobo is still in the ordering process.. and, i got the acbel 700w psu which came early. and plug it on my old mobo with same bios and oc configuration as well..but with new driver installed. but then, i sensed something, my gcard's fan not spinning..i'v checked all the wiring, everything seems right. what would be the problem?plss..

Checked the fan itself? Maybe got dust...try spinning the fan with your finger to test if it's stuck...

So, now actually you only plug in a new PSU into your old system right? You still using the old mobo and GC and what driver exactly you installed?

The fan do work fine before you installed the new PSU?

Just asking though smile.gif

Try to boot to BIOS screen and see whether the GC fan spin or not.

If its doesn't spin, you need to get a replacement fan OR invest in some after market active OR passive GC cooler.

Double check your the cables on your graphic card and any unwanted things that went into your fan heatsink. Clear them up if you see any. If every cable is properly connected then it's probably your fan that is giving up.

Try moving the fan with a screwdriver while your computer is on. Be careful on not to touch anything else with the screwdriver. If it moves slowly then the fan has worn out. If you still have warranty, send it. If your warranty is expired, you can disassemble the fan and try using a drop of WD-40(make sure it is just enough so it doesn't drip) on the part that spins, move it to spread the liquid and put the fan back in place.

You can also buy a good 3rd party cooler to replace it.

You can get the replacement if your warranty is still valid but it usually takes 2-3 weeks. There are some 3rd party coolers on sale. You can try Auras Fridge, Xigmatek Battle-Axe and Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 or S2. Check their graphic card support before you buy them.

I've also an idea for you, you can disassemble just the fan and leave the heatsink installed. Tape or glue a powerful 8cm or 12cm fan on it.

Well, this might not be the solution but one way to check things out..
Try installed the old PSU or try to reinstall the old driver..
see either of these 2 could make the GC fan work again..

if the GC start to work fine again, means the driver is incompatible to your sys (which I think is kinda impossible to cause the fan to stop)
or the new PSU has a defect.. which may cause the fan could not receive sufficient power to start spinning..

It just my opinion... I'm not an expert to say anything for sure. smile.gif

You can also borrow your friend's graphic card that has a fan and test it on your computer to confirm whether the fan is working or not.

You already said it yourself that you have everything connected properly. It's your fan unless that 6-pin connector is faulty.

i'v already runned the card's fan at around 70% if the temp increased signifigantly..the core clock up to 650mghz max..
and the max temp reached was around 80'++...is that normal?? blink.gif ...or possibly, which cause my gc's fan not working properly.. hmm.gif
