Motorola phones are only good for their CDMA PCS models.
There's nothing interesting about Motorola GSM phones. What IP does Motorola phones have that other don't have?

Maybe this is their marketing strategy? hmm.gif

But what I guess is that a lot of people, who are not that rich okay, they will be using SE, cause its cheap and have quite some features. Like myself using k750. Nobody will care of what new models SE have lah, for the long run, if SE still doesn't realize that, they sure loose out mati matian....its happening now ....
*

People who are not rich (or simply do not care) will be using Nokia's low end phone. Aunties and uncles don't care much about features, they just want something which can make calls and maybe SMS. Something like the 1100. I don't think there's any SE equivalent, is there?

The news is old, but just an example of what racks up the sales, and what people want instead of megapixel counts, xenon flashes, memory capacity, and what-have-yous.

Nokia 1100 Over 200 Million Sold

Maybe SE focused too much on the young generation, with all the autofocus, megapixel, Walkman stuff, but the bulk of consumers in China, India, etc., just couldn't care less tongue.gif and if you want high-tech functions, Nokia has it as well. Nokia has all bases covered, I must say. El cheapo? Got it. High-tech wonders? Check.

One thing that catches me reading the ablove is 50mil Moto RAZR sold. waht happen now??? same thing got into SE i think. Early success got into their head and now stumble.

SE probably need to produce a cash cow like Nokia. One that you see everyone hold at bus stops, train stations, check out counters....

Same UI is sick, no gound breaking features is a lose, same old functions with minor design change is sick as well. Overall SE = SICK!

Agree with you, I've been using Sony Ericsson since T610, then T630, K700i, Z800i, K750i, and now using K800i. K800i is a good phone, but for those new SE phones, I see no points for me to change to K850i or other SE models as their UI are all the same which make me sick after using same UI for 5-6 SE phones. Now thinking to buy Samsung or Nokia.

Sony CEO thinking over Ericsson joint venture: report
Wed Aug 27, 6:36 PM ET

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Sony's (6758.T) joint venture with cell phone maker Ericsson (ERICb.ST) must do better, Sony's chief executive was quoted as saying by a German newspaper on Wednesday.

Asked whether Sony is planning to end its Sony Ericsson joint venture, Howard Stringer told Die Welt: "It's certainly been a difficult year but buying out a partner is never an easy thing."
Sony lowered its group net profit forecast for the year to March by 17 percent, citing a slump at Sony Ericsson and weakening prospects for its electronics division amid tough price competition.
"We have to work together again as we did two years ago. Or the joint venture will have to find its own solution," Stringer said.
He added that it was hard for a company to be as nimble as possible when it works in a joint venture.
"You're always engaged in discussion and negotiation. We and Ericsson are always discussing ways of making Sony Ericsson as successful as it possibly can be," he said.

I have used my SE k550 for a year and half, and just kept finding excuses to throw it away. It's a nice phone and all, but SE just doesn't care about its UI and usability. It has good features and all, but when you hold it against a Nokia equivalent, you just can't help but feel that SE is missing something. Even though the said Nokia can be missing autofocus & such.

This is why I've decided to just find something to suit my needs from the Nokia range.
