hmm.gif since this thread is here i oso wanna ask the same thing...i already posted in the HTPC thread...but the mobo recommended is kinda expensive....so i post here again..mebbe got better suggestions here...

also take note, my preference same as TS...wan HDMI on board. but i just want intel LGA775 only

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Jul 3 2008, 12:27 PM)
hey guys....im thinking of upgrading my HTPC....thinking of going intel LGA 775 this time for it. question is the mobo i dunno which to choose... so is there a mono that meets the following criteria?

MUST HAVE

  • onboard audio supports 5.1 AND Line In at the same time (usually 7.1 cards can do this)
  • supports E2160 and penryn and quad core.
  • has 1 PCIEx16 Slot
  • PCI slots oso of course la
  • m-ATX
  • DDR2
  • 3 or more SATA ports
  • CHEAP!
NOT IMPORTANT BUT WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE

  • onboard video with HDMI output
  • Optical and Coaxial output on rear i/o ports (if have to use PCI bracket oso its ok i guess)
thats all i can think of for now....any suggestions?

That is hard to come by, its difficult to get this all on a single motherboard... Even if its avalable, its going to be pricey... blush.gif

Why not look for a MicroATX motherboard and PCIe graphics card with HDMI output, also find the appropriate casing... At least you will not be pinned down by custom motherboard and PSU. You can use off the shelf parts easily... I've seen some of those casings.. They look like.... DVD player, AV amplifier, etc... but internally you can put a microATX (or even a full ATX) motherboard. wink.gif

ive actually found a few gigabytes and some asus boards that has them...but havent been able to find much reviews on them. so dunno if theyre good or not. especially with content playback. heck...i cant even remember their models or even their chipsets lol. the only one ive found with any decent review/thoughts on them is the Asus P5E VM HDMI (mostly positive). but its friggin expensive @ RM6xx

i already have a PCIe GC with HDMI output (Colorful 8600GT). but would prefer to run as little components as possible as it also doubles as my torrent rig. so wanna save some power.

already have a microfly case. so PSU and off the shelf parts isnt an issue.

and if ur wondering why i only want LGA775, its so that i have 'spare' parts to use in case one of my rigs has problems... so can have some interchangeability.
