I'm only a mod, I am not in a position where I have the capacity to judge or punish a staff member, so I don't really care about what happened between Fariz and whoever else. However, I am still a moderator on this forum and have the capacity to take actions against YOU for your wrong doings.

If mod's are judged by the way they conduct themselves as mods, you as a std member should be judged in the same way.

Both topics above are SIMILAR as they are both fruits. But they're not the SAME!!
So, why does it have to be closed just because the replying format are SIMILAR? Right? Do you think that fariz closing the thread is appropriate?

i believe the thread is closed because it is both the same question and its very general. UNLESS, you stated that :" which media player is best?" and another topic :" which anti-virus is best?" THEN only your durian and apple analogy works here.

fruits=software
durian=media player
apple=antivirus

with this, then only the topics will be different... the two topics that you linked both are asking for the same type of thing, which is softwares but by not stating anything in specific, most people who posted on the first topic will be posting the same thing on the 2nd topic. you get what i mean?

There is a question pop out from me. As TS said if we see some guy whacking innocent and as a passing by we shall lodge a police report. But the question now is, there are other forumer who posted there. Why they don feel the thread is "whacking" by moderator? And only you the one who feel it?

I have reviewed the threads and I agree with the moderating decision. I also believe that most members agree with the decision.

There are few thousands surfers here who doesn't bother what you trying to say to implicate the mods / staffs / admins. We will continue to surf LYN like nothing happen as the mods here all have done a good job

I expected a polite tone from you. If you did you might have gained some respect (as the old saying goes - give and take respect). I was traumatised by the statements. If they did wrong , there is a proper way to state it. You sounded like the staffer/moderator had committed a big offence and you are seeking justice in order to restore balance

Well , the admins have pointed it out and have clearly said that if you think that we (the moderator) have done something wrong. Then you can bring this issue up to the admins so that they can take action against the staff members or the moderating crew. Judging from the two threads , there isn't anything wrong with the moderator locking down the thread. The former topic (the one that got locked down) is pretty much like a Kopitiam style thread on a computer sub-section , plus we do have another similar thread as well. That is why the staff member locked it down as there is another thread which is still similar in nature (which is asking users feedback on softwares that they use [ (top 5 in other words software that you can't live without) ]

i have to agree that is two different topic

The best software is judge by the amount of ppl prefer to use ( Firefox example but u can live without it )

Software you cant live without are software for particular person ( if ure an ipod user u love your ipod u cant live without itunes because tats the only way to transfer your song and managing.

TS abit rude accuse the moderator and admin team but in future i suggest if possible can the admins and moderator pm the thread starter why it is close and ask for explaination if any thru pm. It might offend some people but with a clear explaination the person will understand why.

at first glance i would have also closed the thread, but this obnoxious little troll actually has a valid argument.

it's really a difference in interpretation rather than learning to read nor the proper or improper wielding of power and that would have been subject to the intent of the original tread starter or the first post being been worded better.

top 5 softwares could have been the of 2008, 2007 or last month etc

softwares you can't live without would differ from user to user depending on, say, job function. eg. graphic designer would not be able to live without their photoshops, painter (windows) or xara, krita, GIMP (nix) while programmers can't live without their VStudio, borland c++, python, GTK etc.

If the TS of the closed thread(or the one that was left open, or anyone else actually) wants to bring this case up, start a new thread and it'll be discussed there.
