If you expect a lot of visitor then you have to consider to host from your house.

blackout, if you use streamyx with lot of problem then it's big problem bro smile.gif

if you have windows xp also can act as a server also.. for a fast track you can use xammp, easyphp that have all necessary service to operate as a web server.

Depends on your need and what service do you want to deploy.. smile.gif

others may help

#1 You'll need a fixed IP leased line/ADSL/SDSL to your house. Make sure the upload bandwidth is huge. If not, end users will feel that your website is slow. You can also use no-ip domain for dynamic ip but I would not recommend it.
#2 Register a domain and point the DNS to your IP.
#3 Normal computer will do, even Window 98 with PWS can host a website.

I think TS should do more research...

PWS=Personal Web Server, which is available under Windows 98.

If you are using no-ip domain, then you can use normal dynamic IP (i.e. normal streamyx) package.
There is a software which you have to install in the PC, that will update the DNS entry whenever your PC is connected online and the DNS record will point to your new ip.
Dynamic IP package is always cheaper than Static IP package.
But with Static IP package, you can get your own .com domain.

PWS is the web server which is available for free with Windows 98.
If you are using Windows 2000 and above, you can use the free IIS bundle with it.

I would recommend you to go for Apache Friends (it comes with apache , php and mysql plus all the addons). This enables you to download and run scripts such as phpbb and other php scripts out there !

If you want to publish your website using a dynamic IP Streamyx package, you can register for dynamic DNS for free (to point a hostname to your dynamic IP address), but I'm not sure whether you can use your own domain name for that. To find out more, try google for dynamic DNS.

To host a simple website, all you need is a PC and web publishing service. But if your website has any application running in the back-end, then you might need a database and other applications, including higher-end machine.

It's better to subscribe to an external and well known SMTP service.
Most email servers out there would block mails from unknown SMTP servers.

In fact they block our known SMTP server - streamyx.
