sorry to potong stim on the TT discussion guys. 

need to ask about this:
a search here using "canon ef 70-300" produced such a result like above. i'm suspicious about the seller/ad. may anyone enlighten me on this? a canon ef 70-300 is usm at usd300? too good to be true right? pls advice   
another thing is: does canon malaysia recognize its own international warranty? or does it only honor Malaysia warranty? thanks

becareful guys, my friend who is scouting for a camera came across the same thing in FTZ, he told me that its a scam.

You don't have to repeat your questions. Just wait a lil while before someone attends to your question.

1. telephoto can be prime or zoom. It differs on the individual how they want to categorize them.

2. EF-S 10-22 is a wide angle zoom.

3. Yes you can, but you've to pay, it's just the same as bringing a lens which warranty ended to canon.

1. Zooms can change their focal lengths from long to short. Telephotos can be primes with fixed focal lengths, negating the ability to call them a zoom.

Although most call anything above 100mm a telephoto, a true telephoto lense is one that has a telephoto design. Something like a Cooke Triplet, Planar and so on. Telephotos usually have 2 distinct groups, a set of larger lenses in the front, with a set of much smaller lenses behind near the end of the lense.

2. Canon usually reserves it's wide angle designation for wide angle primes. Zooms can be wide angle, but primes can't be zooms can they?

3. You can even warranty it without YL during the first year with Canon. All lense warranties will be honoured by Canon regardless of where you bought it from as long as you have the invoice.

1. lens are divded to 2 types. one being prime (fixed focal length) and one being zoom (variable focal length). under both prime and zoom lens, they can be further divided into wide angle, standard and telephoto depending on the effective focal length.

2. refer to 1. its both a zoom and wide angle. how people categorize it depends.

3. Can. you get charged for the repair. it all about $$ only. canon lens carries international warranty (as listed in the warranty card) and if you have the invoice to proof its a genuine purchase canon will honour the warranty. but grey imports (local store that import lens themselves to sell, not going through canon malaysia) doesn't qualify for warranty in malaysia (but in the origin country its ok) even if you have the invoice from the local store

not to sound harsh but 1 & 2 should be the basics of all basics that you should have already known before you even start to dream about about 70-200 f2.8 etc in your gear list . spare some cash and invest on some photography books to build up your basic knowlegde please...
