It depends on what you need. If you need bigger magnification ratio, go for dedicated macro lens like Sigma 105mm f2.8 Macro. 70-300mm f4-5.6 is just a moderate telelens with mild macro performance. smile.gif

From what I've read, u just use the pop up flash n it will trigger the Nissin622. Nonid for extra items. That's the thing that's really attractive to me coz my Sony flash is just like that. Just pop up the flash n trigger the flashgun with pop up. Nice n simple.

was i rude? sorry bout that notworthy.gif laugh.gif

means the on-body flash will always be the master right? if i'm not wrong the on-body flash can only shoot up to certain speed, does that mean, in high shutter, it itself will fire n the slaves (assume can match the shutter) will fire later? multiples flashes? does it mean the on-body flash will always be the master? or does the 580 can take over n be triggered without the use of the on-body flash?

still waiting for rayman to lecture a bit about his vivitar

it depends on what you shoot, my 100mm macro double up as my medium tele portrait lens, super sharp at f/2.8 and nice bokeh. I have also use it to shoot birds at zoo when I need longer reach and even shoot stage during event.
But if you don't really shoot macro much, I suggest you to get the Sigma 70-300 probably would be better.

yup for nissin just pop the built in flash to trigger it, which means you can also use another external flash to trigger it.

Will the pop up flash fires too when it triggers the Nissin to fire the flash?

yes it will fire smile.gif, unlike the 580exII which you can set the flash off and only act as a trigger, you cannot do that with the built-in flash. So the flash that trigger the Nissin becomes part of the light that will expose the photo

That's exactly the same as my Sony flash system. thumbup.gif Hmmmmm I think I will settle with the Nissin622 then.

So if we want to do some creative lighting, we have to cover up the pop up flash in order to let Nissin do its job alone?

in terms of the 450D, we can trigger the 580 without the pop up firing?

and this cannot apply to the others like the nissin n sunpak...

wah, seems like making everything quite complicated, especially exposure rclxub.gif

If I'm not mistaken, you need a wireless trigger to trigger the external flash. The wireless trigger is mounted on the hotshoe.
