actually i would go for WM due to touchscreen, but i will not bias towards WM since Symbian does a good job too. and both OS isnt perfect in terms of stability and multi tasking... so

QUOTE(Seaedge @ Jul 1 2008, 12:59 PM) actually i would go for WM due to touchscreen, but i will not bias towards WM since Symbian does a good job too. and both OS isnt perfect in terms of stability and multi tasking... so Meh, nokia coming out with its own symbian touch device too, though its still in prototypeSymbian application is currently the most in the market, however, the possibilities for WM application is broader and more advanced, hence WM get my votes on this one but i hate WM due to its constant hanging and crashing, sometimes it renders the whole device so lag that have to soft reset it, and whoever said symbian is laggy please go try for yourself the latest symbian devices |

WM sucks when handling heavy task.
Symbian sucks when your fingers are too fast pressing the button as in non-symbian phone. Symbian is definitely not for those always in rush/highly effective people. my 25pence. |

Can`t really compare them both, seeing that both are running on different device entirely, majority symbian devices are smartphones, whilst the WM devices are PDAs, hence unless u can make symbian run on a WM device or vice versa , i think this poll is flawed

QUOTE(youngkies @ Jul 1 2008, 09:56 PM) for your info u misunderstood me, apparently, i said majority of symbian devices are smartphone, i didn`t say all smartphones are symbiansmartphone can be symbian phone, phone on windows mobile, iphone, blackberry, phone on palm OS, linux based etc. smartphone isn't to exclusive to symbian only. symbian is a great platform but the major limitation is on the devices/hardwares itself. well the poll isn't talking about which is the best, but which will you go for. the discussion is about reasoning, not comparing head to tail. well, the topic, windows mobile 6.1 vs Symbian, isn`t that a plain head to head comparison? smartphones and pdas are entirely different hardware, of course the os for these hardware are created to cater to the needs of it, hence different hardware different os, u wouldnt call windows mobile and windows vista the same, can u? and thus, each has its pros and cons. peace and oh yeah, why since this is a reasoning topic, why don`t we all help the poor TS to list out the pros and cons of WM and Symbian? he`ll have a hard time with fanboys This post has been edited by pipedream: Jul 1 2008, 10:09 PM |

QUOTE(youngkies @ Jul 2 2008, 12:36 AM) what i mean is, to me you sounded that smartphone is belonged to symbian phone only whereas a PDA phone can be a smartphone too, but a symbian phone doesnt have to be a PDA phone. now u are arguing definitions, which i dun wan to get into it, since the line separating pda phones and smartphones are thin and confusing enough, and apparently i didn`t made my intention clear enough, i apologizethough most people vote and go for WM phone eventhough they didnt mentioned why? doesnt make symbian is that bad either. and i did mentioned one of the major limitations of symbian is the devices. however, we are also discussing Wm and symbian as whole, what are available now. of course i can say if symbian is put into a supercomputer like system, they will run hell fast. of course i can say that if WM has huge memory capacity e.g. 2 gb RAM, they wont hang either. as a quote : There is no agreement in the industry about what a smartphone actually is and definitions have changed over time. QUOTE just that to them, they like WM more to symbian, by general. mm, no offense here, but how would u think this will help TS in his choice? since they are so, why don`t they give some shining examples about windows mobile, i believe the most important thing isnt the memory consumption of the os, but rather the user friendliness of it to nightstalker1993 symbian is going to be open source soon, as soon as nokia bought over the remaining shares from other companies, and i dun understand ur problem, i have no problem in viewing my siggie in 1024x768 on my desktop To TS: If u wanna buy a WM device, by all means go for it, there are some PDA phone in the market that i will kill for , such as TYTNII and HTC Touch Diamond and also if u have the bling, get the HTC Shift powered by window vista and WM6,or Sony Ericsson Xperia , just to name a few, the best thing about WM is the unlimited possiblities that a WM OS application could create, such is the emulation of playstation and the porting of Quake III onto the device, and also, WM powered device can easily flash and upgrade your OS such as from WM5 to WM6, just like your computer If ur choice is a Symbian devices, also, u wont regret it, recommended symbian mobile devices in the market are N95-8GB, N96, or UIQ devices such as SE W960i and P1i. Symbian applications are currently the most in the market, application, games etc, however, as stated in my post earlier, the application are rather limited in the sense that they can`t get more advance than that, due to hardware limitation and the OS. Also, u may find that symbian interface are rather straight foward and easy maneuver by even newbies This post has been edited by pipedream: Jul 2 2008, 12:47 AM |
