iPod Nano can last 2 years without charging. If you don't use it. tongue.gif

Ok but in all seriousness, iPod has great sound quality if used with quality ear/headphones. I'm using a 2nd gen Nano and 2nd gen Shuffle, both of them has got good sound quality when I'm using it with my Sennheiser in-ear earphones.

In terms of battery life, my Nano can last 24 hours straight and Shuffle only 12.

The iPod sound quality is not bad. If you're spending so much on headphones, you should probably invest in a amp and a lineout cable to get the full potential of the headphones.

ipod nano is worth for its price, however the given headphone does not provide good bass.

i currently using my nano with a Sennheiser MX55V, it is not in ear type, but it also provide a better and clearer sound, plus improvement in bass.

if u looking for good bass and clarity, i would agree with Peanutz earphone choice, the Sennheiser CX 300, the price is around RM250-RM300+ if u buy it online in lowyat forum

no, i dont mean that mp3 player audio is fully 100% depends on the earphone

the sound is depends on both the player and the earphone in order to made the sound nicer, or to improve it

Sony have combo their player with their earphone, i used to be a cassette Walkman user, so i cant deny that their player and earphone do sound nice, but in my opinion their sound sound can still be improve by replacing the the stock (given) earphone with a better 1

and player also provide a role in the sound producing part, back then in the cassette era, i have tried the same earphone on different cassette player, and some better player like Sony produce a better sound quality than those "ayam brand" cassette player, and feature like Mega Bass can future enhance the effect of the Bass

so do the ipod, their earphone are not made as good as Sony 1, so if u have higher demand in the sound quality you will have to change the earphone, since the player itself cannot be "upgraded"

btw, in my opinion, Sony stock earphone do sound nicer than Apple stock earphone, but Sony player interface and feature arent as good as ipod, thou i like Sony's Mega Bass feature

The main reason people buy ipod is because it is easy to use.Its firmware is great and i can assure u that u would hv a great time with an iPod.However about the sound quality, a number of factor can affect that. For example if the bit rate of the mp3 file is low than the quality won't be as good as the one with a higher bitrate.

Giving my 2 cents. smile.gif

1. do check at music section. you may find some products there claim to be better in audio field.

2. I personally ownned nano 3g 8b before someone stole it. It is very thin, very light. The sound is nice enough and video is good looking. Of course all this is my personal opinion. The best thing is: i can bring it in my pocket without the feeling that it is there.

3. I pair the nano with senn px100, and this pairing is MUCH better than given earbud.

4. you live with the itunes if you want ipod. And you may even find some way if you do not want to use it.

Honestly, it is actually very very easy to transfer songs using iTunes, sure u get confused at first but once u start using it u would not want to use any other services.I love the part where i just put in some new songs to the Itunes and just plug in my iPod or iPhone and boom it sync automatically.

I use a Ipod Nano 4gb 3rd Gen. Video is very sharp, probably due to its small screen. Ipod stock earphones are satisfactory, but of course you can get better sound with $$$. Viewing videos, the battery should last around 5 hours.

i have use iTunes long before i own my ipod

seriously if u a person who has music that can reach more than 10GB or 1000+ of song, how do u expect to find the song u wanna listen every time u wanted to??

iTunes provide a good way to manage and the best is to search the things u want, the searching is way more faster than Windows own searching tools. another thing will be syncronize with ur ipod or iphone, u just have to do the 1st time setting, after that every time u plug ur ipod in it just sync automatic, no fuss.

the good thing of ipod other than it fabulous click wheel and its interface will also be the search function in it, it is really easy to use and fast, and you can get to ur song u wanted to listen real fast, if u ever tried other mp3 player, when u wan to find a song it take a long time to browse for, some even need to click the button countless number of times only can get to the song u wanted.

another thing will also be the Cover Flow, i believe not much mp3 or mp4 player have these, some might not find it useful, but if u a person who are bad with album names, or with countless number of album, but u good in remembering the cover art, is a good thing for u where u can find the album u wan in a short time, just scroll thru with ur click wheel than that it.

in country like US they have their iTunes Store where u can purchase ur music, and some of the music have DRM which u can only play it on iTunes or iPod only, so for them buying iPod is like an long term investment for their favourite music.

iPod also support photo or picture file, and u can view it in ur ipod, u can bring ur photo along with u anywhere u go, imagine bringing 1000 of photo and gone to ur fren house to show them, how was it like in the conventional way??

well i not promoting ipod here laugh.gif , thou i didnt "abuse" my ipod function to its fullest, but still what i said above is what i use it for, can say is my experience tongue.gif

well i would say that Sony Bass is better

ipod sound does have enough clarity, need to upgrade the earphone or headphone if want a better bass, and it will also improve the clarity. ipod also have its own equalizer, but it does not have manual tuning for it, only pre-program mode like bass booster or treble booster and so on

I fully agree with elico. I would prefer Ipod nano 3rd gen and I am having one...if you pair with good headphones, the sound quality is superb.

Beside, as mentioned by mosai, the mp3 file bit rate is another factor that determine the sound quality of your songs as well. If you have high expectation on sound quality, you can do some extra work to make sure your songs bit rate at 320bit. There are some free softwares to do this and convert in between formats. If you need them, just drop me a PM, can pass to you...

And the design of ipod nano 3rd gen is unbeatable by sony...(but again, this is personal preference)

As for the itunes, before I bought an ipod, it was also one of my conern. I was using a creative MP3 before just for the reason that my friend told me it is easier to transfer songs from computer to creative than ipod...

But then...after using ipod, i find it is a totally different story, itunes is not as tough as what people used to say. In fact, I prefer it much much more than the creative software now.

When you click on the manage songs manually option in itunes, you can actually drag and drop your songs from computer to your ipod...

well my suggestion to aspire2oo6 is that u can try out ipod at those Apple Reseller shop like Mac Studio or Machines, or Epicenter@Pavilion

i prefered Machines and Epicenter because they provide really nice pair of headphone there (Sennheiser) for you to try out, those music turn out to be much more nicer than my Altec Lansing speaker, real poison for ur ears tongue.gif

or if u want u can ask them can u try it with ur own choice of earphone, bring urs there, i believe they could let u do so.

well i uses foobar 2000 for convertion from lossless format like FLAC to mp3, foobar support most format and unicode too, and the best is its free.

thou i dont quite like doing convertion from lossy to lossy, but since Apple support AAC or MP3 and not others, so not much choices here.

try check out the Audiophile section in LYN for more info on Foobar 2000
