Got my WRT45GL today. Setup was a breeze.

Now, i shall try Vitek's tomato firmware and see how it goes smile.gif

Added on September 3, 2009, 11:40 amJust to confirm, When it is recommended to clear the NVRAM, all i have to do is to reset the router right?

Added on September 3, 2009, 2:02 pmWas out for awhile. I am back now, and successfully flashed the router.

Guys, what is the default username and password when logging into the router via telnet?

I tried using the default password, the one that i use to access the http panel (admin / admin) , but for telnet, i think it might be something else. What's the default username / password for telnet?

----

Got it..

username: root
password: admin

Guys, how do i save the bandiwth usage (GB downloaded / uploaded per week + per month)

I set it to save every hour but once i restart the router, the saved ammount of GB downloaded / uploaded would reset to 0. Currently the Save History Location is RAM (TEMPORARY)

What should i do to keep the data even after the router has been rebooted?

Go to your system tab under the tools menu and enter " led white on" or "led amber on" . To turn them off, " led white off" or "led amber off"

Guys, i have some sort of issue here. Previously i was using a D-link 520B as a modem + router and it used to freeze alot while i am downloading (not limited to torrents, sometimes even with light surfing). Then i got my self an asus 3-in-1 (modem + router + switch). The asus is a wireless router/modem as well. It used to freeze as well. Not as frequently as the D-link 520B though. Usually it happens anywhere between 12 to 24 hours. I sold it off and got my self a WRT54GL to perhaps curb this issue. I flashed it with Victek's tomoto firmware , and used my D-link 520B as the modem (bridge mode). Everything was working fine. Uptime would be about a few days but i never really tested it fully as i was experimenting with the router (WRT54GL) that i used to reboot the modem once in awhile. Until early this weekend, my modem started freezing frequently. This time , it would be up but would freeze and would start freezing frequently. I had to restart it manually but the same thing would happen again after a few hours.

Then about 2 days ago, i decided to purchase a TP-LINK TD-8816 ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Modem Router. I set it as bridge mode and connected it to my WRT54GL. However , it freezed again a few minutes ago. I had to manually restart it. The uptime was about 30 Hours. All i did was downloading files via FTP, not torrents.

What is wrong? Is there anything i could do to combat this?

Wow!! thanks for the info bro...it works!!
If it's possible that the LED auto light up when the router starts is much more better.. thumbup.gif

Go to Administration Menu on your left. Click on it and you will see a Scripts Tab.

From the Init Tab, enter "led white on" or "led amber on". Save it and the next time you restart your router, the LED would auto light up.

Haha..yes it's quite heavy. Actually it's nothing to do with the WRT54GL router. Only the modem would freeze. Once it freezes, i could login to tomato as usual. If i switch the ethernet port from the modem and connect it to my computer, i could also access the modem's menu. Yes i flashed the dlink 520b with the latest firmware. But even after using 3 modems, i somehow think that this has nothing to do with the modems but something else.

Once the WAN connection is dropped, i would have to restart the modem to get back the connection. (this is the case with all my modems, Dlink 520B , Dlink DSL-540T, Asus 3-in-1, and now my new TP-link).

bsb85my,

go to your Port Forwarding menu in the tomato menu, select DMZ. Then input an ip address of one of the computers that is connected to your router. Of course you must tick the box for enabling dmz. Once done, your DMZ light would lit up.

No no...this is not i wan. I do not want to enable the DMZ function. I just want the LED to light up only..
And if u execute this command "led dmz on", the DMZ LED will light up without the function enable.

here it is:

That box which I've highlighted is not working. I don't know what's wrong with it..
However, if I execute these 2 commands in the system tab under the tools menu..it will work perfectly with both LED light on simultaneously..
