hi,
i wts cheap, home-made directional antenna. there are 4 types: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « TYPE-0: WINDSURFER ANTENNA (made of real alumunium, not just alu. foil) price: RM10 (foc shipping) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « TYPE-1: CANTENNA (this is not really a 'can'). price: RM30 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « TYPE-2: BAZOOKA (improved version of cantenna). price RM55 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « TYPE-3: KUALITENNA (parabolic antenna). price RM80 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « these antennas can be used with wireless router (preferrably with 1 antenna) or usb wifi. simply sumbat ur router's antenna or usb wifi into the hole in the antenna. thats all. customization/add-on: - for better performance, u can use an n-type to rp-sma connector (refer pix) instead. however it will cost another rm40, and this is limited only to router with detachable antenna - usb cable extension for usb wifi adapter: check here. - home-made poe: check here. package: if u need to steal (forgive me for being straight-forward) wifi signal and want to share/re-distribute/re-sale it, wired or wireless-ly, u'll need a router that can perform client bridge or repeater bridge mode. i dunno bout other methods, but the easiest way to achieve this is via a dd-wrt-powered router. i can provide u with these routers (brand new). pm me for further info. postage: since these antennas r relatively huge, their packaging will also be huge. if use poslaju, they will charge based on weight or dimension, whichever higher. this will lead to a whooping charges of RM50++. better use normal post lah, +-RM10. questions, comments, critics r welcomed. thanx for viewing. update: change the topic title.. Goodwork "cocodemon" other that pringle, this antenna better known as cocodemon ant.
My firiend in Kuantan has been succesfully conducting an experiment with used astro dish and USB wifi adaptor. The test was perform within 1Km visual range and it worked. Soon I'll try it by myself once dish availlable. |

QUOTE(zhen^wei @ Jun 13 2008, 12:21 PM) hi, thanx 4 ur interest. regarding the kualitenna, - cod in melaka. i do prefer cod because of the kuali's size - ~34cm in dia. or approx. the face size of a 21" tv. but off course, still can do postage. - since this is 'hand-made', so need to wait bout 3-7 days for me to construct it. - u need to inform me u gonna use it with what, usb wifi or router. i will drill the hole based on that thing's size. --------------- zdan, astro dish is onli 3/4 the size of my kualitenna, still can go 1km. imagine what the kualitenna can do? |

QUOTE(kakarocht @ Jun 14 2008, 12:37 PM) walls? well.. all these antennas can penetrate walls. even the windsurfer. ya i know u wont believe me, come lah to my hotspot in peringgit, i'll show u. the signals of my windsurfer routers (in the attached pix) can penetrate two adjacent 5 storey blocks. however currently my hotspot is closed since students r on holidays. open again in july. alternatively, u can come to my office in kolej yayasan melaka. i kept the bazooka prototype there. my office is on the 5th floor, an ideal test ground while mimo routers r gud at wall-piercing, i think one of the deciding factor in taking down remote wifi signals is the source itself. for instance in my place (melaka), it is easier to capture signals from MITC (free) and general hospital (wep-protected) compare to manipal college or perpustakaan awam. i know mitc and gh r using industry-grade aps, while most probably manipal & public library uses home-grade routers/ap like ours. p/s oredi pm u my phone# |

QUOTE(erry- @ Jul 1 2008, 04:58 PM) undoubtly, the kuali. for best result in long-range, it is better to use directional antennas on both points. however this is not applicable if the other point is not under your control. Added on July 12, 2008, 2:57 am QUOTE(alvarez_ @ Jul 6 2008, 01:08 PM) bro... i got a situation: got 2 shop unit distant : 1.5~2km problem : got 1 building (3 storey shop lot) between my 2 shop... i want both of my shop can access LAN(wireless) from 1 another... which anntena of urs would do the job ya... i dun think the 3-storey building will cause any problem, but the range might. this is not just about antenna, u'll need a pair of gud routers/ap's too. ya, pair = 2 units, one on each location. btw where is ur location? i've never do testing in this kind of circumstances (2km) before. wud love to. but bro please if you can do post the actual gain of your antenna or at least show some stumbler graph on how the antennas are performing |
