here is what i think. tim go scout on SATURDAY (since it is a 2 day thing) and report to us if we could get a strategic place to use our long lenses. if positive, we will go on sunday.
whatever it is, on my personal side, my son will go punch with his mother, while my daughter on her own accord has made plans to go watch pom pom with her cousins will go with me on sunday.

Hey guys I know several of you have this lens : 105mm f2.8 VR Micro-Nikkor

Just wondering whether you guys have used it for portrait shoots before. As you know, the Tamron SP-90 is known to be able to do both. Is that the same with this 105mm?

Of course, the best would be to buy the 85mm f1.8 for portraits... but I'm trying to merge as many uses as possible to limit the $$ damage. tongue.gif

And yes, I'd like to try my hand at some macro shoots. smile.gif

Cannot lah... wayyyy out of budget. Assuming I've got 2k+ in my hands... can either blow it all on new body, nikkor 105 lens (which serves dual purpose) or 17-50 + SP-90 Tammy (2 lenses!! - triple purpose!). Playing with my "Needs VS Wants" list now and scratching my head bald doing that. biggrin.gif

In case you are poisoned by the D700, get the 105mm smile.gif

The Tammy 17-50mm is a good all purpose lens at f/2.8 as well smile.gif
