Nope. You need a Pandora's Battery to hack your psp.You do NOT need to "hardmod" your psp in order to hack it.

There are several methods to create a Pandora's Battery.

1)Using an already hacked psp.
-Just run the installer and the Magic Memory Stick creator on the psp and DONE!

2)Crack open the psp battery and cut a pin in it
-Then create the Magic Memory Stick on your psp using an easy-installer etc.

*NOTE* : The battery hardmodding process can be quite an hassle as it can cause multiple injuries if not done right. Also,it might take several batteries before you can get it to work. This in other words means, pure waste of money.

*It's BETTER to get an original battery instead of a "Cetak-rompak" one.*

Tell me which process suites you better, and i'll give you instructions on how to do it.
*

of course the number 1 method, but then i thought it gonna need a genuine Sony Memory Stick?

Hi ya,

I'm looking for a way to organise the content on my psp, homebrews etc. Came across something called filer but can't seem to make it run on my rig. Any recommendations? Also trying to run the latest CXMB, but the themes are no where to be found under the Themes menu. I'm pretty sure the plug-in is enabled in the recovery menu. Btw, my rig's still running CFW m33-2, so could it because the themes are no longer supported? Any where to get 'old' themes?

Cheers.

Alright
1)What firmware is your psp?
2)What CXMB are you trying to run on it?
3)Do you have the .ctf themes in PSP/THEME?

smile.gif

Once you answer the above,i might be able to help you get some nice themes on your psp.

As for pspfiler, you might not have installed it right.

Hi Playboy,

Here are my answers:

1. Using custom firmware 3.71 m33-2. Kinda outdated, but i remember reading somewhere that newer cfw kinda slows games down. Hence, don't think of upgrading it anytime soon.
2. Been trying a few themes, and can't remember their names. But all are not working. Any good old themes that u think that will still work on the 3.71?
3. Yes. All themes had been placed under the mentioned folder. The root, ms0: also has the cxmb folder in place.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Alright, follow this guide, and install CXMB 3.2.1 on your psp. It's compatible with 3.71m33,3.80m33,3.90m33 and 4.01m33 so you're all good to go.

Make sure the themes are for 3.71m33.They should all be in a ".CTF" format.Try this theme (Just an example)

http://www.2alien.net/community/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=140

Download that theme, follow the guide above, install CXMB,place the CTF file in ms0:/PSP/THEME and select it in the themes tab.

Follow this guide TJK911.It'll help you to upgrade your psp custom firmware from anything higher than 3.52m33-2,to 4.01m33.
Simple guide by me wink.gif

Peformance wise, the slim unit is always better. The slim basically is better in every other category, but it really depends on you.I like the fat better because of it's 1.50 kernel support,Infra-red,and it feels really solid-like in my hands.

Hey guys may I know what internet browser are you using for the PSP?
The default browser does not support Java and it's just a pain in the ass to serve the net with the PSP.
Does anyone know if there is a homebrew internet browser that has better features and manageability?

that'll be quite impossible. however, you can download those youtube videos from your computer and install a program called PSPTube into your psp to watch .flv type video files. nod.gif

Erm I thought there is an app that allows you to stream youtube videos?
Anyway I'm asking for a better browser because the default one is so incomplete and I can't open facebook properly with it.

I'm sorry to say,but that's a very silly thing to do.Now that you've upgraded it from 4.01m33 --> 4.05 official firmware, you can only revert back to your previous firmware(custom firmware) if you have a Pandora's Battery.

Read the following Pandora's Battery creation methods, and tell me which ope suits you best.

1)Softmod the battery
-This requires you to have access to an ALREADY hacked psp a.k.a homebrew capable

2)Hardmod the battery
-This involves you cracking open the battery using a pick or anything like that, and snapping off a pin.(Very risky process, and you might cause injuries to yourself if it's not done right (No joke,i'm serious). This method might also take a couple of tries before you can get it to work, and this means....more batteries and a complete waste of money.
-Remeber,do it wrong, and your battery is cooked.
If you ask me,i'd go with the 1st process. It all depends on ya' smile.gif

If you don't have any of the above, get an original battery and a genuine memory stick and give it to someone you trust in the forums. They will convert it into a Pandora's Battery.

You can't access recovery mode on official firmware psps. Why? Because there isn't one.

Hi Playboy,

Tried the theme that u recommended, along with some other CTFs for 3.71m33 but still can't make them to run. Any idea? The plug-in is definitely enables in the Recovery menu. Or is it because this version is not supported for 3.71m33-2?

Btw, will applications run slower on the latest CFW as compared to my current version?

Cheers.

where can new firmware run slower than old firmware?
new should always be IMPROVING mah, instead some old firmware cannot run the things from the new firmware.
