i just wonder how do you get the latest firmware. I mean how in future do i get the most update firmware. My modem update page keep on showing .24 is the latest but it is actually .23, then someone pointed out there is .26 but modem was not able to find the latest version.

The latest (that I know of) is .27, and you can find the file here: (I hope the link is still valid)

The link was posted by JackHorace a few posts ago. Just follow his advice smile.gif

You can call the Belkin local office in Malaysia. 03-7783-3010. Or you can ask people who monitor these things. I like to keep in touch with the Belkin stuff smile.gif

Good to hear! Belkin is cool smile.gif I got their bag, router, surgeprotectors, mousepad (mousetrap), hahaha.

Trying to save up to buy their laptop coolerpad. I initially thought it sucked, as the build quality isn't that nice, and it's very plasticky, but surprisingly it beat my aluminum cooler master notepal b2 :'( and it's lighter and easier to keep in the bag. So I'm trying to sell my Notepal B2 now, hehehehe. If anybody's interested, let me know, half a month old, lol.

I was trying to be happy to see there is a solution for the problem. However, after I updated the firware to the latest .27, the problem still remain somehow. I get disconnected after like 10 minutes. I never have such problem these 3 days after I bought it.

The Glode and ADSL lights are on, LAN keeps blinking like it can't get any signal, since the internet is not working already. What's the problem? Even after the update? It is the first time I use Belkin, and hope it won't disappointed me. I don't think Sabah has Belkin branch.

Any solution so I can still trust this brand?

If the LAN light is blinking it's ok, as that's probably just your pc accessing the router. As long as the ADSL light isn't flickering, the line should be ok.

When you disconnect from the internet, is your router still connected? Meaning if you log into the router login page 192.168.2.1, do you still have an external ip? If you restart the router, you're able to go online immediately?

Kinson

No, I can't access to the router either. Now, I have tried to off and on the router, but it only show the power light, ADSL and Glode lights on. LAN light won't on even I plugged in the LAN cable. I tried it more and more, and sometimes both ADSL and Globe lights gone off, however, still no response on LAN, therefore I can't access to the router at 192.168.2.1 yet.

Now, I assume it hang or crash internal. Since I can't even access to restore the older version of firmware or anything. I think I need to get it back to the shop.

Any other way?

Try hard reset(that's not the proper term, but that's what I call it) the router. When the power is on (and you can see the lights on the router), use a paperclip (or something) and poke and hold the "reset" button at the back...after a while the lights should flash slightly differently. Wait a little bit, then try accessing the router. It should be back to it's factory default.

Kinson

Tried it many times, yet no response. Even before this happened, I have tried to used "hard reset", but it has no function. It won't reset. That's why I can only off and on it.

I try to see what's the problem through Internet, then I found this thread. It is same, I just use it 3 days, and problem occurred.

Hrmmm, then maybe you'd best take it for warranty. Either to the shop or to Belkin's service center (in OUG).

Cheers,

Sigh...I brought it back to the shop. They diagnosised the problem and found it faulty. However, they insisted that I have to call the hot-line myself, because if it is the shop complain, it might be some issue occur. Therefore, I have to call myself. It is not the problem. The problem is...the customer service officer is not Malaysian!!!

Okay, I'm still fine with the English, able to speak fluently, but the way they response were so weird. There was always few second silent after I said something, like the words need time to transmit. She didn't even ask me what the problem is, but immediately asked me about the technical information for record. I mean the way they response is not used to for Malaysian. Is that their culture? Usual way for them? And they are slow in transfering. For the whole process, it took me up to 20mins holding the phone and about 10 mins was in silent, waiting.

Compare to Tm customer service, I could say TM has their standard at least. Belkin CS so weird.

Anyway, now I need to wait for the email, and take it back to the shop AGAIN. Oh dear...just first time I bought a wireless router, and first time for Belkin...

Don't call the technical 1800-xxx number. Call 03-7783-3010 and look for Jack. If not, there are also 2 other Chinese guys there, but Jack is the best, speaks English. The service center is in OUG, it's a little hard to find, as there isn't a signboard there. If you need directions, you can ask them, or PM me with your number, I'll try and call you to help you out. If and when you go to the service center, please bring your power adapter along too. It helps, especially if you're going to 1-to-1 exchange.

Btw, that shop is being plain irresponsible. If you sell the product to your customer, you should support it! mad.gif I'm not fond of this kind of irresponsible staff mad.gif

Cheers,
Kinson

Well, the retailer told me that if they are to make a complain, it is not reasonable to Belkin, because Belkin demands for customer's complain, not the retailer. I don't know how through is it.

I called the 1800xxx because it was written in the box. He told me that I would get an email within 23 hours and I have to bring it back to the retailer. However, I haven't receive it now, already 13 hours. Should I call the 03xxx?

By the way, OUG is in West M'sia, right? I'm in Sabah. sad.gif Sabah could not have service center... Well, I search "Belkin Malaysia" and come across this website http://iamyuanwu.wordpress.com/2008/03/18/...rt-in-malaysia/, which seemed to be reasonable and explains a lot of the experience I had. Haha! I think I should call AVG.

Thanks you people. Good to know some experienced people. working with computer is realy fun. I myself work as walk-in computer technician, major deal with malwares, but still learning, and it is fun. happy.gif

Your retailer is just sidestepping the issue. They might not deal to Belkin direct, but they most certainly deal with the distributor (AVF), and that's where the warranty claims go to. .I do the purchasing and the warranty for my shop, so I confirm to you that I send the warranty there on behalf of my customers also, so if they say can't, it's just avoiding the issue. (No offense to anybody/shop in particular).

Yes, OUG is in West Malaysia :s

Btw, it's AVF, not AVG (as you posted tongue.gif )

I think you should call Jack (03-7783-3010) for the best way to sort this out, as he'll be the one dealing with your warranty item, regardless of whoever sends it in, be it you or the shop you bought it from. You can try and get the Belkin replacement letter from him also, it might help you in terms of claiming 1-to-1 from the shop that you bought it from.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying repairing computers smile.gif I do the usual technician mumbo-jumbo myself too, and though it gets (very) irritating sometimes, I get a lot of satisfaction from seeing my customers happy, so it motivates me a lot smile.gif

Cheers,
Kinson

I love Belkin bags too, hahah. Though they're not as spacious as Targus bags. I like the Slim Backpack.
