ckboon..thanks for taking time write such a lengthy reply.
You can't take a joke, can you ? It was pun intended to say that the Belkin is too cold. IMHO, 6 CPU fans is a bit OTT.
Even on default Out-Of-Box Factory Default settings, your 7634 stills disconnect before 1 week ?

How do we check the SNR & Attenuation of the line on F5D7634 ?

i can take a joke, but ur question seem like too seriously for me to answer in a joking manner. i am just acting as a consumer.

even on default out-of-the-box, off wireless, or what soever setting i tested, as long as the modem is connected using VCI PPOE-LLC it will get HANG within a day, not to say 1 week. in a 1 week i will get AT LEAST 7 disconnection or Hanging.

the most i can go is 2 days..
try it for a week and see how it goes..

tweaking?? i ran through all the setting, i didn not find any setting to tweak on the connection. if u can run it for more than a week, do let us know, and it will be much pleasure for u to tell us wat u've done.

I also just changed to belkin and encounter the disconnection issue.
I think the issue caused by download activity such as bt. Too many connection are opened and spaming the router. It seems like the belkin firewall treat it as DOS attack hence disconnect the connection.
I m not sure it is related but the number of disconnection reduced as I limit number connections of my bt client. sweat.gif
I hope some1 here can help clarify and resolve this doh.gif

Could be the router cannot handle too many half-open connections.

hmm...
seem like now the blame goes to bit torrent downloading

from what i know, when i used tmnet billion modem to download BT, i cant browse the net, and will get a lot of time up when i try to ping to tmnet dns. but once the torrent is off, everything goes back normally. But the modem wont get disconnected by itself although i left it on for a night for BT downloading. (tested with more than 3 units of billion modem and given me the same result)

other tmnet modem, such as zte, rigor... i dont face this issue.

once again, if tmnet modem can why not with billion if we wanna put the blame to tmnet for capping torrent

or r we going to blame tmnet next for capping the speed of torrent that cause our belkin modem to gone crazy?

Not blaming on bt, i think Belkin firewall is too strong. (compared to others).
Try off ur router firewall and give it a try.
serious, i also dissapointed with Belkin. yawn.gif

it's the modem itself

my connection to the net had be DMZed, meaning they had by pass all the yadayada firewall setting, in another words it is vulnerable to attack. and i did test to ping my WAN IP from another external source and i fail to see any ping time, meaning attacker cant trace my IP and they are not that intelligent enough to hack a PC if they fail to find the source!

i dont think their firewall is too strong if u wanna compare it with other units then only u will really understand what called strong firewall such as NXG, SECUI, nokia checkpoint and the list go on. their firewall is just a standard basic for home user need., thus it shouldn't be the cause as i had a belkin wireless router running 24-7 with firewall and i dont see such issue of disconnection with OEM modem.

belkin should just admit that this model is faulty and offer a replace with a different model. however, there's no point in offering a replacement that's not guaranteed to work.

i got myself a dlink router modem 2 weeks ago and haven't faced any disconnects ever since.

It has something to do with the dslam also. There was a period where streamyx adjusting something, and a lot of modems (not only belkin) started failing en masse. Surprisingly, streamyx's modem still worked, lol.

That was an incident a while ago, but dslam's do affect. But I do agree that Belkin seems to be more succeptible.

Cheers,
Kinson
