Hey guys, I have this adsl wireless router similar to ts, and also in ver 7.

Recently, the connection keep dc every once in a while, should I go change it like TS did?

Just bought it for a week or so.

If you think the product is faulty and it's cause of this recent batch, then that'd probably be the best solution, yeah. I wish they'd just do a product recall or something. sad.gif

Still love Belkin though wub.gif

Btw, who is TS? blink.gif

Cheers,
Kinson.

TS refers to thread starter.

Anyway, should I just pop up at the shop and ask for replacement or should I do anything else?

I'd go direct to Belkin if I were you. Going direct is easier and faster. Especially if your problem is really because of the batch, the reseller will probably just replace you with the same model (which won't solve your problem), or at best they'd send it to Belkin supplier (who won't get details of your problem directly from you), and it'd take time for the shop to send it.

If you went yourself, you can probably get it sorted out within the same day. It's just that finding the place is a little tricky tongue.gif

Cheers,
Let me know what happens.

Kinson.

PS: This is all just my suggestions on the matter, I'm not tied to Belkin in any way, though I wish I was, haha.

So do I need the RMA letter?

I mean it's not like the modem is spoilt, it's just the model number.

No you do not. You can go there direct. Since they're the only people who distribute Belkin routers in Malaysia, all the Belkin stuff is from them, so it's no biggie.

The modem itself is fine, you probably just need a firmware upgrade. You can actually call them and ask for the latest firmware and try that first. It's easier than searching for the place.

03-7783-3010. Look for Jack.

They're in OUG, or more specifically, Taman Perindustrian OUG. If the shop you purchased it from is near your place, then just call Belkin, talk to them, and say you'll pass it to them via XXX shop.

I heard they have solve this issue already ...... but you can always try so you can get a upgrade G+ without additional cost...... G+ works fine so far so good.

Pls update whether they have solved that disconnection problem already.

Thx

Apparently the problem is solved I think. I just took a unit from them for my friend, and he said it's working fine no problem. The unit was flashed with the latest firmware on the 18th or something, so it should be a fairly new firmware, hahahah tongue.gif

As my friend put it to me "Sayonara G+ MIMO, this unit is flashed with the latest firmware", hahaha tongue.gif

I think for those who are having this problem, I'd suggest you call the number I gave and ask them for their suggestion, even if they provide the latest firmware, at least you're sure that it's their recommended solution smile.gif I assume their solution is better than mine, as they work with it everyday smile.gif

Yeah, G+ MIMO works like a charm, I love it smile.gif very stable. I put my palm on it every morning as I walk past it, and feel its warmth against my palm, gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, then I smile and get ready to face a new day smile.gif

I'll be testing its wireless range when I get my P1i next month...I'm too lazy to take my laptop outside now, hahah.

Cheers,
Kinson

I am using BELKIN G+ MIMO. the wireless signal is good.
I am using it in a single storey terrace house, put the router in the middle and my whole house can get 5 bar full signal, and it stays stable...

tested this myself on the first day when i bought the router.

Since you said you can connect with your Aztech mode, we can assume that you StreamyX(billing etc) is working fine.

If you don't mind me asking (in a non-offensive way), did you change any settings within the belkin router before it started acting up? You can try resetting the router first and keying in the settings again. To reset the router, just use a pin and press (and hold) the reset button somewhere on the modem until the lights start to change (in a weird way), then let go, and give it a couple of moments.

Give it a try, and let us know if the problem still persists.

If you want to talk to their warranty/tech, you can also call 03-7783-3010 and look for Jack.

Cheers,
Kinson

i admit i changed ONE setting with my belkin a few days before the system went haywire on me last week. i changed the wireless channel to 11, as according to the manual. that's all, i think. and i haven't visited the page ever since.

okay, i've finally managed to reset the modem after countless of trials, which include the power icon turned red! hahah, go figure. i'm using the wireless now! woohoo!!!! hooray!! thank u so much Kinson! i dare not touch any setting now. so, on my belkin configuration page, under Wireless > Security, i put WPA-PSK (no server) for my security mode, the rest left with the default, and set a password for my wireless network. that's only thing i touched.

Kinson, under Wireless > Channel and SSID, the current wireless channel is 6, which is the default setting. do i need to change it to 11? what does this wireless channel means anyway?

thanks again, Kinson, u've been a huge help. thank goodness i don't need ta go puchong! soooo damn far man! i followed your advice and spent an hour trying to repair my connection. it's working now, hopefully to last forever. anything else i need to know, take note or change my belkin configuration on 192.168.2.1 in order to make it last as long as possible? thanks again.

cannot be any happier with Kinson's help,
amber.. cheers!

I'm glad I helped. I'm always happy to help people out, especially if it's a Belkin product smile.gif

When fiddling with stuff, it's always good to remember not to change something that you're not familiar with. The good thing about modems and routers is that you can always reset (or hard reset as I call it) them back to their original factory state. There is also a "restore factory default" option within the router setting page itself, though the physical button is handy for when you can't get into the settings page. This is great, as it allows us to play (and screw) with the router till our hearts content, and then reset it back, hehe.

So if you think you've made a mistake in the settings to start over by hard reseting the router back to the factory default, and start over. Just make sure you did a hard reset, and not a soft reset (which basically reboots the router). If you notice your setting and passwords are gone from the router, then you've probably succeeded in hard resetting it.

You also want to pay attention to the "home" page or your router settings page, from there you can see whether you're connected to the internet, either by looking at the status on the upper right (which I don't think is always accurate), or keeping an eye on the WAN IP. If the wan ip has something like "60.49.111.97", then your ROUTER is connected to the internet, if it says "0.0.0.0", then it's not connected. Just remember to isolate the problem bit by bit. If the router isn't connected to the internet, then the root of your problem won't be your computer, but is either your streamyx account or the router/modem etc etc.

As far as I recall, the wireless channels are related to the broadcast frequencies, so they do not clash with others. Sometimes people do change them if their neighbour's wireless is interfering, but I've never really seen a case where the channel settings actually needed to be changed. Normally I just leave it at 6. Wikipedia link on the wireless channels is here: Wireless Channel Info

Glad to hear that you don't have to go to Puchong (is OUG considered Puchong?). Enjoy your router, its a very cool router, as I've using the same one at home, and I love it too smile.gif Much more stable than my previous Netgear WGR614 or D-link. And of course, I'm a Belkin fan wub.gif

I've got a bunch of routers(picture attached) to test out this weekend too rclxm9.gif though I've got a feeling I'll be too lazy to test it (mainly the range), had a very long week.

Enjoy your Belkin everyone smile.gif

Hi, what do you mean by your firmware is ok? Have you updated to the latest firmware? Btw, is your telephone line going into an ADSL splitter before going into the modem?
