here's some of the update from me..

2/6 jack had swapped model 7634 with me

the no connection issue never been solve..
tried to blow the unit with fan 24/7 and i still get "no connection" within 24 hrs.

test with tm modem, configured is as PPOE-LLC (auto connect) and connect it to 1 of the router LAN port. other PCs/laptops are connected to the internet from the LAN port and wireless wave.

for a week i never face any problem with the connection, as tm modem will reconnect to the internet once they are disconnected.

my own assumption: belkin modem dunno how to re-connect to the internet once they are disconnected unintentionally and they will just stay disconnected with the red title written " no connection" or it will hang the whole box.

i faced more "HANG" with the box rather with the previous box, so i failed to capture most of the security log for further troubleshooting.

now i'm running the belkin modem in "modem only" mode, and the rest all the PC needa connect to the dial-up PC to get to the internet..

will monitor and update u guys on the latest status.

here's my story.

1st modem:
-frequent freezes and connection problems
-visited service center, got new adapter and updated firmware
-result: didn't freeze as often, but wireless dies and can't access the admin page.
-went back to service center to get replacement

2nd modem (reusing adapter and latest firmware - 7.00.28):
-have been using it for 2 weeks
-modem freezes as often as 1st modem.
-can never get the modem to stay on for at least 24 hours.
-once the modem shows that its connected, it takes a while (10-20 minutes) to "warm-up" before being actually able to browse any websites

Absolute disappointment.

One consolation is that the service center's cooperation is very good though.

welcome on boat to this damn freeze/hang/disconnecting belkin wireless modem router group! lol...

Added on June 24, 2009, 9:10 amhere's my next update
18 june 2009
jack gave me another firmware to test up. download the firmware, and happily flash it into 7634 hoping to see some miracle.
** minor issue, i played with the disconnect and connect button on the modem pages, and the unit get hang!! no choice but to OFF and ON back the adapter power.

20 june 2009
seem like the new firmware doesn't help much. the unit just hang by itself while i was browsing the internet. I cant ping and i cant access to it web page, which make me no choice, but to OFF/ON the power adapter switch for the 2nd times.

** today is the first time the unit hang by itself after the new firmware had been patched, and the unit had been restarted a few hr ago after it got hang when i disconnect and then reconnect back the connection to grab some IP which i needed.

from what i observed, it looks like either this unit modem is having some issue with the auto-connect(PPOE) as i dont face this kinda problem when i switch it to "modem only" mode and when the time i configure tmnet modem as auto connect to get connected to the web.

22 june 2009
very sad to say that the unit HANG once again after my house got blackout. I am not sure how the blackout happen as i was not in the house at the moment, and my PC was shut down. Switch on my PC and i fail to access to the Belkin URL once again, but i can still ping it. No choice but make me off and on the adapter switch for the 3rd times.

got very depressed and asked to switch this unit to a wireless router instead as i will be purchasing other brand of modem as belkin modem had already given me a lot of nightmare although i really like it feature but the disconnection issue is the biggest problem that make my PC ON without doing anything which is a waste of electricity to me!

23 June 2009
i guess the disconnection issue is not solved. Once again, i say "HI" to modem hanging/freezing/disconnecting after i've OFF/ON the modem last night which meant it cant even last for 8hrs.

** actually those diary are all the email that i've sent to Jack (with minor amendment) and i am still awaiting for his reply regarding this issue.

i WAS once a big fan of belkin but not now until is damn MODEM issue is being solve!

ckboon,
looks like you've tried running the modem as, Modem Only & Router Only.
how's the performance running under these modes?

well one thing's for sure. this modem's giving Belkin a bad name.

i face no problem with "modem only" as the connection is connected using windows dial-up.. as once the connection is disconnected unintentionally my dial-up will connect back within 3secs, and it been up for more than 3 days without any issue.

same goes to "router mode" only, which i configure TMnet modem on PPOE-LLC to get the connection automatically, and i face no issue with the connection as well.

once switch back to originally mode which is running on full modem router wireless mode, the unit will HANG!

that is why i've concluded that the MODEM is giving out all the nightmare.. vmad.gif
actually i like the way this units work on its virtual IP, DMZ, firewall and disable WAN ping function.. but the modem had degraded/defeated this unit!

if this issue can be solve i wont go for another alternative modem... but i've purchase this unit for more than a month and i've been wasting my electricity bill for a month as well!!..

today around 9am i think the unit HANG again!!

as i can monitor and remote to my house PC from my office if the connection is up, but once i reach my office, i cant even see my house connection is up, this can be due to the modem is down, my house electricity is being cut off or my house PC HANG, but this possibility is damn small which can be summarize to THE MODEM HANG ONCE AGAIN, as this is not the first time i cant remote back and find out that the modem hang.

**once again i wanna conclude, the modem SUCK as working together with it will make the whole unit HANG as i don't face the HANG issue if the modem is not connected on the way is should be!!

Hi, I'm not sure if you can upgrade to the G+ MIMO because the G+ MIMO has been phased you. If I'm not mistaken, you can top up to upgrade to the N150 (which is the replacement for the G+ MIMO). Do you know how to go to the Belkin service center in OUG?

If you do, then you can call Jack at 03-7783-3010 and tell him that you're looking to an upgrade, and I'm sure he can work something out for you.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Kinson

If you ask me, we really need to see what the problem is. (I'm not affiliated to Belkin btw). Sometimes it's the modem, sometimes it's the settings, sometimes it's something else. I generally like to find out more details first, especially if you've had 3 modems already. The usual questions are:

1. are you using an ADSL filter?
2. Have you made sure you don't have "disconnect after x minutes of inactivity" checked.
3. Did you try another brand before, and did it have similar problems?

Just trying to help pinpoint the problem here smile.gif

Kinson

Hrmm, well that's about all I can think of at the moment. If you say everything else is same with the Aztech, then perhaps it's the router/modem. Try giving Jack a call to sort things out? I do generally find the G+ MIMO and the N to be more stable though. I've been using the G+ MIMO for a year, and recently swapped to the N MIMO.

If you can't seem to sort things out with the service center, you can PM me, and I'll see if I can help you out personally.

Cheers,
Kinson.

Hello Kinson.

Currently Im using the F5D7632 and luckily I dont have any problems with this modem router. The connection is very stable.

My questions are:

1)Can I swap to N-mimo for free at OUG? I need a better signal strength.

2) Is there a N router + modem for Belkin? if not then I have to buy a modem.

3) so far do you have any issues with your N-mimo?

Hi lalala_lalala,

1) I'm fairly sure you can't do that. However if your unit is spoilt, I think you can pay the price different and request for an upgrade when you're getting your replacement unit. You can call 03-7783-3010 and ask Jack for the official answer on that.

2) Yes, I'm am currently using the N router + Modem (8633). When I say I have (had) a G+ MIMO and N, I always mean router + modem, sorry for the confusion. 'Cause I like my modem to have lifetime warranty too, ahaha smile.gif

3) Had it for a week or so and I haven't turned it off since. I download torrents and have 4-5 computers running at home at a time. The range seems better than the G+ MIMO (though it might just be psychological, haha). My dad's laptop in the back room used to have a "low" signal using the G+ MIMO, now it's "excellent", so I assume it's better, lol.

I hope this information helps you.

Cheers,
Kinson.

The upgrade? Basically it's the retail price difference between the N-MIMO and what you currently own (assuming it's spoilt).
