The link for FE-370.

If you're looking for high zoom power, try this.

http://www.olympusimage.com.my/products/co...series/sp565uz/

EDIT: I had a look at the range of PnS Canon offered, and all had only 3x/4x optical zoom. Would you be happy with that? If so, then you should try the Powershot A2000 IS.

Thanks TheWandererX, you are very helpful indeed. notworthy.gif

I think i have to eliminate Olympus sp565uz from my choice because it is over my budget. Nevertheless, it's zoom power is very impressive indeed. Haha...

Powershot A2000IS comes with 6x optical zoom, different from other Powershot series.

Since there's no much difference between 5x and 6x zoom. Now my choice has been narrowed to between FE-370 and Canon A2000IS only. Safe me a lot of trouble. Haha...

XD it's my pleasure to help.

I guess it's up to you to compare both now.

Anyway I just read a review on the A2000, and I guess you might want to have a look at the A720.

Good luck choosing your future camera. smile.gif

okay, to clear things up, i listed down those cameras because i do not need a sensor larger than 10MP, live view, and other thingamagics. comparing those, the A300 has great value for money, but i prefer nikon's control system (two control dials) and canon's superior high ISO noise reduction.

what i DO need is a camera that has a beefy body (in size), 5 af points or more, and a 3fps continuous drive mode - all at a price that's not above RM2.5k.

if you put that in perspective, its not nonsense, but your own comparison does not make sense considering the price range of the three cameras that you mentioned.
well, seeing that there are so many sifus around here, i thought i might give it a try, who knows? *shrug*
for me, its not the camera that counts, although it really helps you, but even a pns can get great pictures if you use its strengths carefully.

ive decided to grab the A200 with twin lens kit; crappy lenses, i know, but good enough for what i'm trying to use them for brows.gif

Nah it doesn't really matter. As long as you're aware that they're in 2 different categories it should be alright. smile.gif

You should state your approximate budget. =/ 1k plus might be RM1001 or RM1999, you know.

Since you gave that range, there's quite a few choices.

1. Nikon D40 (new/used)RM1.5-2k (this one I'm not sure)
2. Nikon D60 (used, or body only + cheap lens)RM2k+-
3. Canon EOS-1000D (new kit set) RM1999
4. Sony a200 (new, kit/twin kit set) RM1.4k-RM2k

I'm not sure about a few prices, (actually almost all) so I apologize.

Anyway, it's all really up to personal preference, but I might give a few comments.

D40 is a bit too much, because it's strictly entry-level. I'm not sure as of how it works, whether it's good or not, but it's worth a try to experiment and research about it.

D60 is the competitor in the entry-level range (together with the 1kD and the a200) so you might want to take a look at dpreview.com. Or here:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos1000d/

Look for the comparison charts.

Sony provides cheap but reliable wireless flash setup.

Wireless flash = fun  biggrin.gif

Added on November 27, 2008, 2:56 pmthere's no need for expensive lenses if you want to shoot motorsport action, like panning... because I used to do pan shots with only Cybershot P73 without any problem  laugh.gif

wireless flash is fun indeed, but is sony really THAT cheap? i mean RRP for their flashguns are comparatively higher than canon or nikon offerings.

i need the manual control, my current FX38 has no manual controls XD

Thanks for the advice bros, just bought my IXUS 870, takes real good pictures for a PnS.

@TheWandererX
Just looking for a PnS this time, it comes in handy sometimes you know, like in security sensitive places ph34r.gif , maybe like a concert hehe. A big black DSLR will just scream LOOKAT ME!! Hmm, why do DSLRs have to be black or silver only......

You're looking for a simple Point and Shoot camera? With a budget like yours, almost all the compacts are within reach!
I'll recommend an IXUS 870 IS or maybe a Fujifilm F100fd, these two brands are my top two choices for PnS cameras, but the IXUS 870 IS has an added advantage, the looks brows.gif

Basically, TheWandererX has already listed down most of the entry level DSLRs for you.
I'm just adding my opinion on top of it smile.gif
If you're the guy looking for the most features with the lowest budget and are not brand-conscious, so to say, then the A200 will be the best DSLR for your budget.
You can get a new model for around RM1.5k.
For that price you'll be getting newer technology, Image Stabilization with all lenses, 2 million more pixels... rolleyes.gif

hmm.... ur budget range is quite.... big...
so its 700 or 1300??

anyway again.... need to explain bout the megapixel theory again.
megapixel doest really affect ur picture quality, unless you are making big big prints.
for normal prints like 4R size.... a mere 6megapixel camera is MORE THAN ENUF.
so plz dont think that having a 10mp above camera is having the best quality camera.

ther's a lot of good cameras for ur budget range.
ranging from lower end to higher ends: FS5, LX36, LX38, Ixus80, 90, 98......

you can put tis few into consideration. google around for their spec.

I am personally keeping an eye out for the Nissin Di622.
http://shashinki.com/shop/nissin-di622-dig...res-p-1026.html
Cant seem to find its official website though. But this model supports wireless flash and optical flash trigger. smile.gif

EDIT: Hold it right there...I found it smile.gif http://www.nissinflash.com/Featured/Di622/Consumer/

kev, the sony flashgun is actually cheaper than Canon/Nikon offerings.

HVL-F42AM (has manual/ttl control on flash, support wireless) .... street price as low as RM750~RM800 (RRP is RM999)
HVL-F58AM (manual/ttl control, wireless group ratio control, wireless commander, strobe mode, support external battery pack, etc) .... street price as low as RM1150~RM1250 (RRP is RM1450 if not mistaken)

F36AM and F56AM has been discontinued. These two are a bit expensive because they were using old Konica Minolta design which Sony had to pay extra more to produce it.
