it's sumthing like using part of the ram to become secondary storage like hard disk or thumb drive.

QUOTE(hussam_o_r @ May 18 2008, 05:27 PM) sorry bro.. i cant give u a techinical explaination. anyway, the ramdisk software is developed by superspeed corporation for enhance speed usage. Ramdisk is a software to "cut" or "built" a section or a partion on ur ram and use it as a storage device as ur HDD. u can assign the Ramdisk as a drive and use it to store ur temp IE file to enhance the browsing speed. For those running diskless technology. Ramdisk mostly used to store the windows image for client PC. hopefully these helps. just my 0.02 cent words best regards |

QUOTE(Takashi @ May 18 2008, 05:22 PM) A simple test on actual copying speed on ramdisk to ramdisk. 1GB data transfer with 5 sec. program tested : teracopy with full buffer on 20mb. Ram disk was really useful last time when everybody was still using floppy disk and slow hard disk.... Nowadays, with fast hard disk and ram cache, they are not that popular anymore.... Even Gigabyte i-RAM was not a successful product..... |

i still remember using ramdisk for folding, after twice power failure lost over 200 points.
just wait the price come down RM100 for 4GB, then i think worth running application pure on ram |
