Oh great now i will flipping coin to decide on buying now or wait for unknown time ( and i don't know is it worth the wait ). Just want to get rid of my old 8800gts 320MB , always stuttering on new games on high mainly because of it's 320MB.

Forceware 178.13 fixed GT200 HybridPower hibernation

user posted image

There won’t be a lot of people out there using Hybrid SLI mobo and a GTX 260/280. But here is the heads up, the Driver 178.13 has changed,or fixed GT200 series Hybrid Power hibernation.

In release notes NVIDIA states they “has determined that a minimal fan RPM is needed to deliver the most reliable experience in switching into and out of Hybrid SLI Save Power mode and has thus enabled a minimum fan speed when this mode is selected. NVIDIA recommends using only 178.13 or higher drivers for Hybrid Power support.”

It is funny that NVIDIA finally fixed the driver, but the upcoming MCP7A have already got rid of the feature.

just purchased a Gigabyte GTX280 but the funny thing is it always overheat reaching 105c after 1 minute of gameplay on every game zzzz... need to change it .. teh fan is also at 100% so noisy. And btw, i heard screeching noise whenever any video or 2d interface is loaded.

For now i had to open casing put extra fan and on AC 16c to let it below 100 ( still the fan is at 100% and temp is 97 like that, but still, sometimes it reaches 105 again ... )

Very normal casing, i change into the big case to see the effect but it still overheats. The case is Cooler Master forgot what model but it is large enough with some big fans. Now i just open the side case and put some fan beside to let the air in.

Sounds like it is CM690 casing.
Try to apply thermal paste like Tuniq TX-2 on the gpu.
