lol. you just look at the thing that you see but you dont look deeper to what you cant see.

the comparison sheet is shown. just a brief telling you why..

Touch Diamond:
HSDPA, 528Mhz, VGA, A-GPS and 900mAh

X500:
QVGA, 400mhz, EDGE, and 1530mAh

and you were saying diamond is battery drainer.. smile.gif to me.. i would say x500 is a drainer too.

go see the full comparison here

erm.. no doubt i dont own either of it (becoz i no money sad.gif ).

but then again that sheet shows you something. which is you are comparing HSDPA, VGA screen, running 528mhz and 900mAh battery operated PDA Phone with a Non-3g, QVGA screen, 400mhz processor and a whooping 1530mAh battery operated PDA phone. logically, technically, and by common-sense, Diamond shud be more battery consuming.

but then, you said you used both and the result after 1 day of usage are: diamond @ 22% while x500 @38%. so by spec vs spec, i dont find diamond that drainer after all.

x500 still have 38% battery life after a day usage is because the battery is larger capacity, lower processor, and a lower resolution screen.

the way you see the battery life is like you are comparing with a fuel consumption of a 2000cc car(TD) with a 1600cc car(X500). no doubt 2000cc(TD) car has higher fuel consumption but why is it so; because it has a freaking 2000cc engine(processor). and comparison can go on and on.

Again take my D810 as reference, mine is loaded with lite rom and 400mhz and 3G disable, 30mins of call, 30-40sms, and some solitaire, i can reach even 2 days with a 1200mAh. So can i say your x500 is the drainer?

so, go figure. put a bit of logic in it too.

ehem.. diamond suffers memory leaks like what usually pda does. and eten uses SIRF StarIII chipset which lock faster but a battery drainer too. and the keyboard version called touch pro. cheers..
*

Yeah SirfStar III is actually a very long time chipset in the GPS commercial market. If SirfStarIII is fast, then you must look at Mediatek's MT3318 chipset. It locks marginally faster and has better sensitivity than SirfStarIII when it comes to the urban jungle.

Anyway, at the moment I won't say anything regarding Touch Diamond's performance mainly because it is still very new in the market. Time must be given for its firmware and software to matured.

However, when it comes to platform 'wars', it is an intriguing discussion. When it comes to ETEN's choice of platform, they pick Samsung's S3C2442 which is a ARM920T core. Intel's (now belonged to Marvel) PXA27x and 37x processors are essentially ARM9 cores too. These processors are well known to be fast and efficient. If there's any comparisons, that is both are ARM9 cores. New comers in the WinMo like Qualcomm and Texas Instrument uses ARM1136EJ-S based on ARMv6 instruction set. These are still pretty new in the WinMo.

Again however, we've seen similar platforms being fast and efficient like Cruise, TyTN II, etc. If you like transitions, you should look at iPhone... it is running on an ARM11 core. The N95 and N95 8GB including other N-series are on TI OMAPs based on ARM11. They're fast too but provided the OS was optimized for it. So lets just give some time shall we?

Well a lot of people complain on a lot of things and everything for that matter. The most important thing is we must look into these with a rational mind. That is awareness and education must be there. Spreading the right information is essential. Otherwise, mindless people will take the wrong perception and act irrationally. If you want any examples, you can quote the newspaper headlines. whistling.gif

Most important is you must understand what is these people complaining about. Then evaluate whether these complains affect you based on your requirement and expectation out of a PDA phone or the Touch Diamond. If these complains do not affect you, then there is no problem. If it does, then you have a long choice of other products to choose from.

emm i dont own those pda phones n never used pda phones like that b4, but for matured pda user like u shud understand, by a mere glimpse on the spec itself can make u knew which one is a battery drainer

ur Eten has lower spec compare to diamond but hv btter bigger battery, but in the end u mentioned it has 38%, while diamond which is more high end n better spec, n using smaller battery also can hv 22% powe left...

so, ur eten is inefficient compare to diamond, coz only QVGA screen, only EDGE n 400Mhz cpu wih bigger battery but only hv 38% pwer left while Diamond which has VGA reso, 528Mhz n HSDPA can hv 22% power left

i like the way Seaedge make the comparison
