DFU Mode Vs Restore Mode

~DFU (device firmware upgrade) mode is a special mode that bypasses the operating system(doesn't boot up the "mac os" on iPhone) and lets you restore/upgrade the device. When in DFU mode, the phone will have no display on the screen.

~Restore mode is more common. In this mode you can also restore or upgrade your device, but it is not as drastic as DFU mode. Many restore problems can be solved by using DFU mode. When in restore mode, the phone will display the logo & cable screen.

Guys I read from somewhere that the iPhone by default can be easily compromised because of the default username and password that it uses. Should I manually attempt to passwd the accounts?

The default username and password that u meant is for SSH, not the iphone. If u don't have SSH installed then u don't have to worry about it. If u do then use bosspref to turn off SSH. Only turn it on when u want to use it. If u use BSD then u can't change the password or u'll end up with a spinning wheel of death. If u use cydia then u can change the password.

Yes, you can but you're gonna have to go through the whole unlocking process again. Since version 2.0 is coming out, why not just hold out for a few weeks more and just upgrade to the new version instead? Are you on Celcom?

are you referring to 1.1.4 or 2.0?

no one can be certain as it is well known fact that one can hack via bluetooth.

The current iphone hardware do support all bluetooth functionality but apple did not enable the bluetooth stack for file transfering. An effort by some users have been done to port the bluetooth stack for iphone but this is not an easy feat. There is no sign in the next firmware that this feature will be enable as apple don't want us to transfer media file back and forth.
