is d40 still a good buy compared to a200?
i'm very interested in photography now and planning to buy either one of 'em next week but can't really make up my mind.
can anyone clear my doubts or perhaps poison me? hahaha biggrin.gif

I'd say D40 if long term, let say in future you gonna get lens and still hang around with D40, it would be a great buy smile.gif
Part of the reason is Alpha lens is expensive.

D40 is you gonna change lenses as they are cheaper than sony ones... a200 if you are gonna stick to the lens and not change..

if you can afford a D60 get one, plenty of wonderful features.

however to compare with a sony, i'm too beginner to tell myself, but you will most probably stick to sony lense

I read the d40 doesn't have built in AF motor right? will it trouble in the future if i were to upgrade my lens?

if you are the sort who will keep on buying lens then i suggest you go for d80 and above..if you only gonna get a tele then you can use d40...

orenzai, the bottle picture is nice ... too bad our d40 is not HDR friendly

Don't think it will be a problem.
Sigma also releasing 50mm f/1.4 which comes with AF motor.
Nikkor did offer lot of AF-S lens, Tamron famous 17-50 f/2.8 now also comes with AF motor.
So, I think it shouldn't be a problem smile.gif

yes it DOES offer lots of lenses but the prices are doh.gif
