faster then vista currently
xp will be ever fastest, but lack dx10/10.1, x64 drivers etc.

x64 also helps work faster, but only apply for 64bit system
already tried games with dx10.1 gc, the graphics makes me goes droolin drool.gif

Server OSes are not designed for pure speed, generally. More for reliability. And you'll probably have different compatibility issues from Vista. Still, each to his own.

I wonder about the price though.

Server OS such as Win Server 2003 and Win Server 2008 are intended for server computers such as web server, database server, etc. By default, it should be configured to prioritize background processes, which is how servers run!

It is better for end users to stay with a desktop OS such as XP, Vista, or the upcoming version codenamed Windows 7 (due in 2009/10)

about compatibility, 2008 using the same driver as vista
and certain software like antivirus etc. you need to use server version, home/personal version cannot be install
and the price, you can find here

yes, by default it prioritize background processes
but you can change the priority to program

for normal users, you may not like to go through all the tweaking to get all the vista function back
but for os adventures who like to try around, you wont regret it

all you need to follow guide 1-12, plus "Disable Data Execution Prevention" and "Missing gameux.dll"

btw, what make windows server 2008 faster than vista? izzit lack of the sidebar, aero etc stuff result to less resources usage?

and how u feel the differences ? coz i see its min requirement.. just similar to vista except graphics card
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008...quirements.aspx

mind to clarify?

p/s. im not vista user
