Hi there, i need some help & guideline about hosting. I'm still TOTAL newbie in this field. Currently, I rent a host for e-commerce & some more other beta test by myself & friend. tongue.gif

1. I wish to know about hosting, how it works? What can i do about it?
2. If I wanna to have resell my hosting program, what are the things that I need to aware off?
3.. I wish to know more about dedicated Server. If i wish to setup, what is the things that I need? What are the things that I need to aware off?

Is there any software? security things that I need to know? VPN? Torrentflux & etc rclxms.gif

Appreciate the effort the all the sifus that contribute....

take a reseller hosting package and start ur hosting business 1st, don directly go to dedicated, except you have more spare cash.

dedicated will cost few hundred per month, wherest reseller hosting cost you less then 100 per month

I just got myself a master reseller package. It seems to be not easy to manage.

Any tips for it?

Since you're diving head-on into the hosting scene, you'll just have to do a lot of reading and play with the system.
My guess is you got a reseller package with Cpanel WHM as your Control Panel?

I guess first thing to do is to just RTFM on the WHM Manual http://www.cpanel.net/support/docs/index.htm
Once you're familiar with the control panel, then perhaps you can look into issues like coming up with a website, billing, support etc...

Hi
about your question

1.A hosting is where you put your webpage, files content in it and to be publish on the internet.while a hosting company means a company which provide a storing hostage for your use.

2.About the resell program, most hosting provider do provide a reseller program which is you can make your own webhosting plan such as how big is the storage, the bandwith and to be sell for any people who need a webhosting. The things you might be aware off is the cpu usage. Most os hosting company do mention about that kind of situation to all reseller.A high cpu usage may suspended your reseller account and all of the account under you.

3.Dedicated server is your own server. You can run anything in it such as webhosting, shell hosting, email hosting etc..Unlike the reseller plan,if you have a dedicated server, means you have the full control of your own server as you are the ROOT.A dedicated server can be rent from most of hosting provider too.If you have your own hardware, you can colocate your hardware in any datacenter around the globe.

security stuff ? well if you have your own dedicated server, just needed to know ipchains, routing and etc.
For the hosting, reseller plan, no need biggrin.gif

For torrentflux, you would probably need your own dedicated server.
