Anyone have any thoughts on Ars' System Guide for March? I'm thinking of building it, specifically the Hot Rod system. The God Box is crazy overkill.

Hot Rod

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 Retail
RAM: 4GB PC6400 DDR2-800 SDRAM
Video: eVGA Geforce 8800GTS 512MB
Sound: Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 750GB
Optical Drive:DVD±/CD-RW: Samsung SH-S203B
Case: Antec Solo
PSU: Corsair VX450 450W ATX12V 2.2

Don't really care about the sound myself. On-board sound is good enough for me. Hard drive and optical drive are pretty much substitutable. Thinking of replacing the C2D with a quad core though. Seems like a pretty sweet set-up, except for the eVGA which I can't seem to find around the shops here.

God Box - Not realistic but interesting anyway

Mobo:Tyan S5397 (S5397AG2NRF)
Processor: Two Intel Xeon X5460 (Retail)
RAM: Four Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) ECC DDR2-800 FB-DIMM kits
Video: Two NVIDIA QuadroFX 4600
Sound: Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer
SCSI Card: LSI Logic MegaRAID SAS 8208XLP Controller
Hard Drive: Two Fujitsu MBA3300RC 15K 300GB SAS
Optical Drive: LG GGW-H20L
Case: Silverstone TJ10
PSU: PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 Quad + APC Smart-UPS 1500VA

if u really want the 8800gts then u can go ahead with gigabyte brand... but 8800gt is best bang for buck due to the performance... besides, this could save ur money for change the duo core processor to quad core.

You can get EVGA through the bulk orders.
