Just got ubroadband and I live in Subang Jaya. Surfing is very slow. And I did a few speed test and my speed is the same as a 56K dial up modem.

According to the map, it said Subang Jaya had very strong signal.

I guess its back to Streamyx. Whatever it is, even their Streamyx 384 is faster than this 3.6Mbps speed.

Just sent my modem for a refund. Haih, thought can get the 50bucks back on the spot. They told me they will send a cheque in a month.

Oh well.

The speed is getting ridiculous after few days. Constantly get around 56kbps. LMAO, brings back my dialup memories.

Totally agree w/ u guys, my area in D'sara Perdana got similar speed rate only.

Really slow but 1 thingit was good abt was it never DC & normal surfing like checking mail / MSN was ok. Price was ok too but 5GB/month really not enuf for me at all.

But no point, since it slower than 56kbps. Will return modem to them soon.

Bye bye U-mobile...
Jst go register fixed line only, waiting streamyx activation.

shockinglah. in uk, the 3.5g is so good. Here, its like snail. Whatever bad remarks abt streamyx, at least they are stable and fast still

Just got my "Surf with U" yesterday at Berjaya Times Square, U Mobile had a booth at a gaming convention there.

The registration was easy enough, filled in the registration form and paid RM50. I get a ZTE MF622 modem and a U Mobile USIM. Will be giving the "8-Day" offer a run for its money (or my money? hmm.gif). If there's good performance around areas where I need to go online, then that's ok with me.

Will try to report my findings here soon.

Price is quite attractive. But not recommended coz it is still a new company and very less user. Not worth to take the risk by signing 24 month contract.

Btw, read their FAIR USE POLICY.

Been using it for almost 5 days liao.
1 word = sucks

average speed 100-300kbps (1.8/3.6 mbps konon)
more like edge, which is only rm66 now

i'll get around 1mbps if u open lots and lots of connections or 10-20 pages of websites at the same time.
i live in kajang, but tried at lotsa places in the kl, almost the same.

youtube? forget it.

also no ssh port for those wanna tunnel to their office or home.

returning it when the trial ends.
dissapointed...tot HSDPA will get 1mb average.

but i'll give them another chance if they improve their speed later.....

I was at Digital Mall SS14 last night and saw quite a number of people signing up for this service. Well, I think most people are just wanting to try it out since there is a 8 days money back guarantee. Most of them probably end up returning nevertheless.

yeah what we want is a reliable high speed broadband. hopefully what you pay is what you get not some old tech 56k.

I dont think when it say 3.6mbps it means 3.6 megabytes per second is more like 3.6megabits per second so effectively you should be geting 460kilo bytes per second and that is the max. So if we can get like 300kilo bytes i think is not bad. Well streaymx 4mbps cost more than 200 ringgit per month. Just my 2 cents. Thank you.

They are saying that they get 300kbit/s, not 300kByte/s... so 300kbit/s is only about 30kByte/s

HSPDA... 3.6Mbps.... al lies.... cry.gif

signed up and cancel the subscription for refund.

reason: No coverage at all at Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong (not all Puchong area covered)

procedure: return back the modem in good conditions. bring along the receipt. But refund payment will be made by check (from u-mobile)within 30 days.

good things: very easy to signup. no hassle. only need ic copy and any utilities bil.

still waiting on the effectiveness of the refund process.. still waiting for the check. (refund on 1/4/2008)

Quoted frm the FAQ:
Surf with U offers you unlimited usage, however to curb abuse to the service and network congestion, each subscriber is allowed to use up to 5G per month according to bill statement date. dry.gif

don't simply bash u-mobile lah. this t&c quite similar to celcom broadband. i dunno bout maxis but i believe it just the same.
for celcom, if u exceeded the 5GB barrier, they will manage the user's bandwith. (read terms 5.4 under excessive usage - for celcom)
