yeah fine, the superman dunk was not exactly a dunk per se, but the 1st dunk of the first round and the 1st dunk of the second round... what about those?

he didn't win the contest because of the superman dunk you know? worst dunk ever? give the guy a break... he brought showmanship back to the dunk contest. I still think he was robbed by MJ, Dr. J and Nique last year.

actually im not getting on him cause of the 'showmanship'. if he ACTUALLY DUNKED the ball at that distance and height...man he deserved the perfect 50 for that round..

da 1st dunk was excelent..
da 2nd dunk was bad BUT he did bring da whole arena possibly da whole world tat was watching, stand up & laugh..

he shud put his kiss the ring dunk in. that would have been good.

i think u should google up the meaning of a dunk..it doesnt mean u need to hang on the rim for it to be a dunk..u just need to be above the rim..

comon, if i was 10feet away from the ring and was still above it, would u like to see that?

i actually gave credit to him for being able to push the ball into the ring from that distance.

and his push back to the backboard dunk looks so normal, but when replay showed what he did, i was like

so yea, he deserved his title, especially when most think that he was robbed of the title with the sticker trick last year.

like what barkley said... once howard dropped the first dunk, he got the "Carter" syndrome, the crowd was literally eating out of his hand. the superman dunk solidify that. No doubt G-money's birthday dunk was interesting, he just didn't entertained like Howard. After all, the all-star weekend is all about entertainment and Howard bought it... and 78% of the voters also agree.

there's no need to say whether it is a legal dunk or not. u think NBA is not checking the rule? if it is not a dunk, u think they will allow it in the first place?

well...im the other 22%. LOL.

he wouldnt stand up agaisnt the likes of jordan, dominique, even spud webb if you wanna compare all star dunk champs.

10yrs from now i'll still say this dunk is a joke. famous for the wrong reason.

can u imagine if all the competitors just pushed in the ball. how ridiculous is that. no one touches the rim.

i dont think he won casue of just one dunk..he's 2nd round 1st dunk was never done before..gotta give credit where its due..

at least he is creative. Dunk actually means putting the ball into the basket. I see he is doing that, just that he does not touch the rim.

You can't compare those solid dunks of the 80's to now. Maybe running out of juice, so instead of power dunk, now evolve to like more of a "circus performance" since Steve Nash use his head to assist Stoudemire for dunk.

Howard's dunk is inspiring, and the crowd loves it. That's what NBA would like to see.

btw, i damn like how kenny smith response to the Superman dunk, haha!

And, about the kiss the rim dunk, he actually planned for this dunk for last year, but somehow he din do that.

agree with u on that..there are not many dunks that hasnt already been done in the dunk comp..except maybe 360 between the legs,720 and under both legs dunk.. even the g.green through the legs got a low score cause its just a variation of what vince and jrich did..jamario moon free throw dunk was nice cause he went off the bounce but we have already seen mj and dr j do it before so no wow factor either..its now all about creativity baby!

actually i hope that Moon to get to the final round though, if he din put the stupid tape. I know he can levitate from there, but hey don't put yourself too much pressure.. who knows what happen

but i still hope that some people will do some raw dunks, like what Josh Smith did last 3 year. Put the ball into the basket HARD.

Hrmm... I guess the Slam Dunk competition is no longer about the traditional dunks anymore. These new generation of players brought the competition to a whole new level. I remember one of the commentators said that fans protested to cancel the slam dunk competition. I guess Dwight "Superman" Howard juz revived the competition.

No doubt "Birthday Cake" is a creative one, but for Green's last dunk, you can see that he's out of ideas already. The same dunk w/o shoes on? You muz be kidding me...

The 2008 Slam Dunk competition redefines creativity in a slam dunk showdown. Hail the new gen of dunkers!

but that damn superman dunk was bloody ugly, heck one dude did it on a miss dunk even! hahaha thats in the competition.

but i have to hand it to howard, his tip off the board dunk was sick, so was his behind the backboard. strange tho, i dont think anyone did a 720 in a dunk com before, or even a 360 between the legs.
