Only one biggrin.gif Though we allow people to use it on multiple pcs if they only turn one on at a time.

nope sorry our service is not for gaming and probably won't help...

The Streamyx high ping is just poor international routing that may or may not be solved via finding a different IP range.

Just got the VPN service. beautiful beautiful download speeds.
i'm on a 1 (1.2?) Mbps line and that would mean that my max download speed would be about 125 kbps to 150 kbps.

Yesterday on my first day of installation and configuration, i was downloading my series at up to 120 kbps download rate!

That's definitely about 80% of my bandwith! Beautiful!

Thanks Reuben!

No worries and thanks for the feedback.

That is actually in fact close to 100% of your bandwidth because the protocol eats up 15% in overhead :P. That happens regardless of VPN or no VPN :P

Here's an explanation (this does not factor in loss on the line and our own VPN's overhead):

QUOTE
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-repli...cfm/539793.html
As most people have heard delivering IP services over ADSL incurs a hefty loss of throughput due to 'encapsulation'

And the figure usually banded around is 10% - 15%, which is close to the money, the more accurate value is 13%

The encapsulation consists of

ATM (53 octet cells - 48 octet payload, 5 octet header)
TCP overhead is 24 octets per MSS (normally 1452)
The IP overhead is 20 octets per MTU - PPPoE (normally 1492)
The PPPoE overhead is 8 octets per MTU (normally 1500 - the size of 1 Ethernet frame)

So thus:

ATM overhead, on the other hand is, 9.4 %
TCP overhead is 1.65 %
IP overhead is 1.30 %
PPPoE overhead is 0.53 %

TOTAL = 13%

---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ----------------

How this applies to our 1.5mbit ADSL connections is as follows

1.5Mbit/sec = 187.5 KB/sec (Maximum in an ideal World)

PPPOE (using 13% overhead) = 24.375 KB/sec loss

Leaving 163.125 KB/sec of bandwidth.

So if you are getting close to 163KB/sec then your connection is technically at its theoretical maximum

There's some delay in processing the keys renewal and new subscriptions tonite. Next key is after 11pm due to Reuben having some fancy formal dinner tonite. Other than that, all services running as smoothly as ever.
