how "blind" is this VPN server?

How long is the log kept? (port number...)
Is the the server non-responsive/ "blind" to take down orders? (e.g. auto delete of take down notices?)
How long is ex-customer data kept?

Excellent question

Logs aren't kept on most of our servers except for BolehRoute which is pruned every 7 days. This is mostly due to some people using our service for spamming which necessitated the need to identify these users and terminate them.

Although I cannot give too much details, we have a method of dealing with such notices and have been running in this manner for about 2+ years. We also have a contingency plan that we can put into effect. We also don't rely on any single one datacentre and have spread our eggs out. We partition our servers according to their respective risks.

Customer data are NOT stored on any of our VPN servers so even if any take down notices happen, they won't reveal the person's name/identity or e-mail. The customer data is also not linked to any of our VPN servers in anyway.

For further details, please e-mail us at sales@bolehvpn.net and we'll be happy to take your queries there.

The speed you get on a particular torrent is not dependent on whether it's public or private. It's determined by the number of people seeding such a file and the number of people trying to download the file. Now if only a few people are seeding the file while a lot of people are downloading, then the speed will naturally be slow biggrin.gif

Why private trackers tend to be faster is that they enforce rules for people to upload back thus making it more likely that people will stay on to seed after they finish downloading a file. For Public trackers, most of the time people just stop the torrent the moment they finish getting the file.

What our VPN does is remove the throttle by TM so that it's as if the throttling weren't there. However, if the situation is where the torrent would be slow EVEN if TM weren't actively throttling it then of course there's nothing that can be done except hope more people seed biggrin.gif. This is more an issue of seeders rather than a VPN but yes if the public tracker is well-seeded, you should be able to max out your speed.

That's quite hard to say. remember it's also the QUALITY of seeder that is important. For example, it's better to have 1 seeder with 100 mbit upload as compared to 20 seeders with 512 kbit upload each. Public trackers aren't often served by seedboxes (unlike private trackers).

But with BolehVPN, we actually give you access to a private tracker should you move to a full subscription (as opposed to just a trial).

For further details you can refer to this post under item number 2 for a better explanation on what all these seeder/peers mean.

Well if you are using a public tracker, you will be using a public tracker configuration where we don't receive DMCA notices on these.

Although we don't guarantee it, I have tested it and several other customers subscribe to our service for this reason and it does appear to improve surfing to china sites

If IDM supports Socks proxies yes which I believe they do. Even if cannot got other fully routed options in our setting which no need configuration.
