seriously, RM1,000 is very unlikely for the coming months even early next year. Unless, for those non-popular type such as GC, One and so forth.

Even in stock clearance areas, it doesn't seem to be going down that much. lowest I've seen so far is around 1300.

Just got poisoned on PV80, but should i also go for a LCD Tv for PS3? Cuz if that's the case, I'm gonna be dead broke.

well most next gen consoles like xbox360 and ps3 will be more better in terms of display with LCD tv...cause most of em HD & Fully HD ( LCD tv )...720p & 1080p..ordinary tv just display 480p...

Hi all, would like to find out if Sony KLV-40V400A supports 1:1 Pixel Mapping? Can view PC input & normal SDTV contents in 4:3 format? I don't like to watch stretched 4:3 feeds in 16:9 keke.

Thanks biggrin.gif

No 1:1 pixel mapping.. you'll get scaled image even after you switch to 4:3, and Bravia's scaling ability is very bad. If you insist get an external scaler to do the work for you, but then you could get a quality 29" CRT with the price of said scaler. The choice is yours.

With a budget of under 1k you're probably better off getting a good second-hand 34" Panasonic or Sony CRT (with 100hz). It'll be a lot, LOT better than trying to use an ultra-budget LCD TV (with ghosting, view angle and contrast issues). It still amazes me how good my old CRT looks compared to my LCD TV. smile.gif

u don't need 1:1 pixel mapping to view 4:3 contents..they have function for that, adding two black bars left and right...but its not advisable to do that.

Actually, PV80 is just for Astro only. Since PV80 is quite cheap for my budget, I could just snap myself up with a new LCD panel for my PC and PS3, since i'm still using CRT for my PC. tongue.gif

But I think I'm still ok with a new CRT since it's just for Astro. For bluray, I might have to reconsider again. sad.gif

Hi thanks for the reply, may i know why it's not advisable to add the black bars? It's bad for the panel?

^ Cause it defeats the purpose of having a wide screen display. Having black bars on both ends makes your LCD look even smaller.

Just that your TV takes longer to activate the panel, nothing to be afraid of. Unless you mean the console itself takes longer.. but I don't have that kind of problem using HDMI

hi dudes! just wanna ask a quick question:

which is generally better, current plasmas or lcds?

my choice is between Bravia 40" S400A and Panasonic 42" PV80. difference of 100 bucks more or less, but which is recommended in terms of - hardware quality, lifespan, maintenance.

the PQ, i can determine later myself...but more concerned on the long term quality of the set itself.

thanks! rclxms.gif

Pana - 5 years warranty. Lifespan is est to be 100K hours (40k hrs more than most LCD TV). You do the maths.

Hope u guys can help me... which is better? in terms of quality & performance.

Samsung LA32A550 (vs) Sharp LC32A53M (vs) Sony 32V400A

-does Samsung's Full HD reliable?
-how serius is Samsung's pixel problem?
-is Sharp's 100hz important?
-is contrast ratio important? Sharp has the lowest 7500:1

hope can get some tips here... so far price doesn't matter (as long belowRM3500)... thanks
