why don't you get the Vista SP1 DVD? save you the hassles you may (and already) encountered when updating to SP1...

i got a problem wit "My document"...
install fresh Vista with sp1 to drive c, and change my document to drive D instead of C>users>my name >document.

i use this step. Start menu>documents(properties)>location tab>move>select my desired folder>apply>click transfer all...

after those steps, everiting files movement(download, send to documents, bla...bla...) still go to C:users, not to my selected folder...

why aaa?
this problem never happened to me back then,

FYI, i always cahnge my document folder to drive D, t never happend like this before...

Hi guys!

Just a question. Is it advisable to update Vista to SP1 by using Windows Update or to download the file from microsoft directly?

I went to microsoft website and they strongly discourage to download the SP1 if I were to update only 1 PC?

Anyone can advice?

Edit : Also, if thru Windows Update, any workaround to enforce that my Windows are downloading SP1? I have updated my Windows when I did a fresh install, but I don't think my Windows Update did download SP1 as well when I went thru the list

the main difference between the 2 methods is the amount to be downloaded. SP1 is mainly made up of past patches and hotfixes for Vista.

So if u ve a machine with Vista installed, it doesn't matter as both method will still grab roughly the same amount of files.

But if ur Vista machine has already been running for a while, and u have done all the updates regularly, then going for the Windows Update is preferred as u will need to download what is needed.

the complete SP1 file from MS Download Center is 400+MB...

No, you have to install Vista Ultimate to get Dreamscene. It was released WAAAAY before SP1 was released
