trickle charge
A charge at a low rate, balancing through self-discharge losses, to maintain a cell or battery in a fully charged condition.

I in doubt you can go for 30++ hours with current Malaysia temperature. Let me enlighten you with battery knowledge, facts and reality...

Lithium-ion works within the discharge temperature limits of -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F). The performance is temperature based, meaning that the rate capability at or below -20°C is reduced due to the increased impedance of the electrolyte. Discharging at low temperatures does not harm the battery. Lithium-ion may be used down to -30°C (-22°F) with acceptable results. Larger packs will be necessary to compensate for the reduced capacity at these temperatures.
It is not recommended to discharge lithium-ion at temperatures above 60°C. A high discharge rates combined with elevated temperatures can cause self-heating, an effect that could permanently damage the separator and electrodes of the cells.

The recommended storage temperature for most batteries is 15°C. Let's go to my point now....

Facts:
Sony test the battery with player in lab which is have a temperature really cold. I would say 16°C.
Sony test playing using the lowest bit rate acceptable by our ears.
Sony disable all the setting like equalizer.
Sony test with LCD off.

Reality:
Our temperature now 35°C+. The higher the temperature, the fastest battery discharge.
We using higher bit rate song like 192kpbs and can be up to 320kps. The higher the bit rate, the bigger the file and need more battery power to access and to process the song.
We use equalizer to suite our liking. That use more power.
We keep changing the song and that will make the LCD switch ON. Well more power again.

There is more actually but that should be enough to make it understandable.

That why if you read the manual, there is a clause say, battery life is depend on.... bla...bla... (check yourself).

hmm.gif i read from cnet review that from testing, they got around 38 hours for music & 8.7 hours for video.

http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/sony-n...7-33270791.html

Maybe their country's temperature's is cooler & can be of lowest bit rate used & disabling of all the settings.. smile.gif

Truly stellar is the rated battery life of 40 hours for audio and 10 for video. CNET Labs didn't quite match those numbers, getting 38 hours for music and 8.7 for video, but we're still impressed by these slightly diminished results.

Test in lab again.....

To create playlist really easy... use WMP only.... for add cover also can use WMP.

Use the Advanced Tag Editor to add album art that you have previously saved to your computer by doing the following:

1. In Windows Media Player, click Library, right-click a file, and then click Advanced Tag Editor.

2. In the Advanced Tag Editor, click the Pictures tab, click Add, and then browse to the picture that you would like to display as album art.

3. After selecting the picture, click Open to add the picture as album art.

Or use software like itunes:

or mp3tag http://www.mp3tag.de/

Yes if your player detect as usb external drive not the MTP (Window Portable Device). If detect as MTP, there no drive number.

This might help to give some idea what I say...

Better edit the original mp3 inside the PC so you don't have to redo again if you need to transfer to a new player or need to refresh your current one.

Create on the WMP and have to resynch because different way of file placements is use when create playlist. So if your song already inside, same file is transfer again. Advisable to remove before create a playlist. That why I only create a few and not to all songs.

I guess software problem?

By the way the radio is functional in KL! i guess the radio signal in sarawak is bad tho. Sorry for your inconvenience that time.

You need to recode your mp3 files that have problem. Use a good software like iTunes. Some files may be have a bad data in it. When play in PC, the player will skip that part, or maybe you will hear a noise but in walkman that data is ignore and player will hang. I also have that kind of mp3 before.

Radio in KL really good, can hear clearly.

About the case... did you looking like this one... RM59.00 at sonystyle...

I've read about hangin or freezing player with the old firmware. My S738 is updated with the latest firmware v 1.11. I have not encountered any freezing as u mentioned.
Then again i've never got to try the old firmware cos i updated the minute my unit came.

Added on June 20, 2009, 5:49 pmOn another note, i want to give nordingh a big thanks here who very kindly informed me that Sony has released a circular.

Sony have acknowledged that the cord of the supplied earphones that came with the S7xx series DMP and some Vaio models may harden or break depending on the usage. You may go to Sony Service Center to get a replaceme.

A Big thanks to nordingh once again

Try using different sizes for each ear canal. I have found that my left ear needed the larger tips and the right medium tips, haha.
