Hi,
I am in UK.

I just bought 2 BRAND NEW 1.5 (4G15) engines from Proton UK. They are supplied ready built but without cylinder heads.

I have several used 4G15 engines in my garage but I do not want to open them because they are all good and working fine. I also have a 4G13 which I do not need. I was thinking to use the head from the 4G13 on one of the brand new engines. I just want to check there is no difference between 4G13 and 4G15 cylinder heads. Is everything the same including combustion chambers, camshafts and valves? Or should I use a real 4G15 head?

Also is there any diffence between the carburetor of 12 valve 4G13 and 12 valve 4G15? I have a shortage of carburettors (because UK Iswara comes with injection which I hate. I throw away all the injection stuff and ECU and use carb instead) so I want to know if I use 4G13 carb on 4G15 should I change any part of it to get the mixture correct or will it be fine without changing anything?

4g13 and 4g15 cylinder heads are the same... plug and play for both parts...

4g13 carburetor and 4g15 carburetor has minor difference in the jettings... there are 2 ways u can do if u cant get urself a 4g15 carburetor...
- modify the air/fuel jet inside the 4g13 jetting to match with 4g15 jettings... this is a delicate task... once overdone, there is no turning back...
- find carburetor of other makes... solex, mikuni, weber, etc... carburetors which has interchangeable jettings will be good...

If you tell me the jet which I need to change in the carburettor I can get a new jet from Proton or Mitsubishi in the UK. Carbs are now rare to find in scrap yards and are very expensive new, but a jet should be very cheap to change if you can tell me the correct Proton part number. Thanks

Yes Oly, I am sure the 12v carb is based on the British SU carb design which uses a piston and needle. I believe it is the needle which will be different. There is no sense in buying second hand parts like this because I'm sure a brand new needle will not be expensive from Proton or Mitsubishi in the UK. I find it is always better to use brand new parts if available.

But I am interested in buying some items from Malaysia if anybody can help me. These are the parts I want to buy:

MMC Type rear boot spoiler for Proton Saga Saloon (1991)
Complete gasket set (Saga 12v)
Complete gasket set (Saga 8v)
Set of HT plug leads (Saga 12v)
Set of HT plug leads (Saga 8v)
Water pump 4G15
Oil pump 4G15
Voltage stabilizer
Water vapour fuel saver device.
Grille with MMC badge
MMC and LANCER FIORE badges for boot lid.
Malaysia type steering wheel or MMC steering wheel (dark brown or black)

Pair of LONG TYPE MMC turn signal flasher lamps (for front wings)
Pair of MMC type PARKING LAMPS (fit under headlamps)
MMC digital meter dashboard set
