Hey guys, I need some help with the SMP thing too...

...things run well, but each time it finishes, has sent the WU back and downloaded another WU, it will give an error [63], which I found out is in regards to permissions. I have concluded this permission problem could be during the install.bat stage, so my question is:-

e.g. ...installing on this vista machine *kicksvistamachine*, using the daily Limited user account and installing from command prompt with Admin privileges, when it asks for user (during credentials stage), do I type in the Admin account, or the Limited account?

...umm that's it I think... thanks for any help smile.gif

...okay for my problem, I think consider self-solved la... I just installed it direct from the admin account and ran it as a service... hopefully there will be no more cock-ups from it... really dislike setting the clients up...

...as for arct; how long have the WUs been sent? maybe the servers need updating before they show the changes? takes a couple of hours or around that if i am not mistaken... anyway all the best with the folding mate!

...ahhh krap la this SMP... a second time it has nuked my WU... lost 2 x 1950pts... not to mention 3+ days of folding wasted... here is an excerpt from fahlog.txt--->

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

...after poking around, I have narrowed it down to either the loopback thingy -or- some other thingy affecting the work log or something like that... have tried the solutions given in those forums, but if this new batch fails (in about 3d 3h), will ditch this f$#@in Vista machine and just do the slow-poke client...

...if anyone has any other solutions would be really glad to hear it... thanks guys.

haven't encountered such problems, the SMP just folds away.

i decided not to fold with the i5 750 as it's consuming like 115 to get only less than 3k PPD.

...ah then it's probably my idiotic configuring then... nice to know wink.gif ...by the way are you using vista too goldfries? ...tried vmware just now, but decided against it since the recommended RAM was 2GB min, and this particular machine is put-putting along with 1Gb only... so final decision is to abandon all SMP folding and just use the slow but till now very reliable normal client... what use is 2K++ points if I can't send the results and points reliably? ...but will consider the vmware thing on my home machine... or maybe not... waiting for fedora 12 to come out and fold on that smile.gif

...thanks for the info anyways...

...seems I am forgoing vista... really want to push this PC down the flight of stairs, except company-owned... now thinking of dual-booting this particular machine with fedora, or has anyone tried folding on linux booted from a pendrive? ...or interested on loading and folding from linux within windows e.g. dsl linux... hmmm... anyone in FAH@malaysia tried this?
