most of the class 3 graphic can't really play latest game on 1280x800 even with low details and turned off features for certain game. Class 2 and above will perform better. nod.gif

Hi all,

I have been super super busy and have not being able to be regular here @ lowyat. However everytime I went back it felt like home. I really wanted to update my frontpage so that it could be useful to us. Anybody with free time mind to help?

I'll put in as much credits as you deserve on frontpage. But yeah the idea is to have updated frontpage.

Hopefully some of us found the guide is helpful.

oops, srry, didn't check when i hit reply...

main thing is, i suggest only list down GC that are avaliable in the market today... for the old ones, like GeForce 8M Go 7, Mobility Radeon HD 2000, leave these out of the list, so as not to confuse those who are new...

hi, I'm eyeing at dell precision M2400, Quadro FX 370M2 GPU (or Msoft X4500HD)
since this is a 'business' gpu for 3D graphic oriented programs, but can I play game with it as a substitute to Geforce? the FX 360M is in class 3 with the likes of 8600M GS & GT as per page 1 list.
If yes, are there any limitation/downside (hotter ,game setting cannot set as high as geforce, etc) that I should expect from using this 'business' gpus FX 370M as compare to 'gaming' geforce gpus.

Thanks in advance guys.

i read that the fx 370m is upgraded from 360m. problem with it, is that they rarely ever mention about its gaming performance, if ever (even google result). hence, with this topic, im particularly asking about 370m game perf thru fx 360m (as listed) whom some might have some experience and opinion about. Thanks astria; )

to be honest, i don use it for graphic programming at all lol, but demanding casual user ie heavy multitasking n mid to high gaming. i like the latitude E6400 but its expensive so i found a cheaper alternative- precision m2400 which uses quadro fx 370m.

hope some1 can feedback about quadro fx 360m gaming performance

hmm... but i read from Nvidia that Quadro FX 370M has 8SP and 64-bits memory interface...

this puts it to have the same spec as GeForce 8400M GS or 9300M G...

ya i noticed that the fx370m has the same paper spec as 8400M GT or 9300M G

I read that there 'might' be a limitation on the 'business' card tht is needed to command games such as 3D acceleration, etc. becuz nvidia intended to make this purely for business tools thus disabling some softwares in the card. This was proven when a user he tweaked the card abit in the bios or others that eventually enabled him to play games but it cud be during the old days nvidia practiced this. he cudnot say the same for recent newer nvidia quadro

the internet results (though unreliable) r pretty mixed, some goes as far as mentioning its worse off than msoft integrated gpu when comes to gaming, some mention it lacks the 3D acceleration needed for demanding games, and this link:
http://www.notebookcheck.org/Analisis-HP-C...10p.5140.0.html (need translation tool)
this test, although Quadro NVS 340M (which made for mostly 2D apps vs FX for 3D), it managed to play hi end games like a low-mid range gaming cards.

now im only waiting for the Dell latitude (NVS 160M) or the precision (FX 370M) user feedback to tell how their cards fare in more demanding games.

well sry for long winded, probly just wan to get on the record what i've googled re: this 'business' graded card as substitute for gaming card.

hmm, if i remember correctly, NVS is a more stable version of GeForce (like more stringent compatibility tests), but FX is really purely for professional use...

Hey, I'm contemplating on getting the Dual nVidia 8800M GTX SLi(512MB each) for the Dell XPS M1730... Thing is, how much of a jump is it from the "standard" Dual nVidia 8600M GT SLi???
