Depends what games you are playing. I don't think lots of em will do above low or medium especially for recent games.

I never tried both personally, but I would suggest 8400gs as it consists newer technology compared to 7xxx series card. Even performance wise there wouldn't be any different, I assume the power consumption and maybe heat dissipation could differ.

From the top of my head, the 8600gt is best performer amongst the options you mentioned. Have you read the frontpage yet?

I suggest you gave them a read for more in-depth knowledge and you can always come up with more specific question after that. It took me awhile to make that but so far I think none read it except for myself doh.gif

It's already pinned. Seems maybe I should add up laptop MODELS here but I need help from u guys. Working all alone is kinda hard and time-consuming. I wish any of us could post their notebook model, brand and GPU they are using. That way I could easily add up the models on the frontpage.

Dear All,

Hope that I am writing to the correct post. Just want to highlight some issue with the Compaq Presario v3628TU model. It is using the X3100 graphics integrated.

Do you know what games can play on this model? As i installed the Call of Duty but when I click play, the error message come out. Is it because the graphics cannot tahan?

Thank you.

Was it original game or not? I would point you out at the CoD4 thread for more reference on that:

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/556701/+1100

To be honest, the game (CoD) is kinda demanding and I have to say it, X3100 can't cut it. Sorry it's bitter but it's the truth. Maybe you could try all low settings on 800x600?

I am using 7950GTX in my Dell Inspiron 9400. No, you guys can't buy the 7950GTX in Malaysia. Even if you asked Dell, they will quote you a very high price. I bought it from eBay. Playing CoH in DX10 with no problems. But Crysis is another story, though. Maybe caused by 1.8Ghz Centrino Duo CPU (Not C2D).. Guess I had to stick to my 8800GTX SLI PC... tongue.gif

Don't worry Derred i do read your frontpage smile.gif

My question is, how does 8600m gt compares to 7900gs (both 256mb gddr3) ??

Yes, i do know the class difference.

But, i asked google and all i got was confusing comments and not a solid benchmark. Maybe i haven't looked hard enough tough.

thanks in advance to anyone who replied.

If I have XP, I'll go 7900gs. 8600m gt is slightly behind 7900gs with assumption of no overclock at all. Result could varies depend on what you are doing (gaming or stuff) and others (driver u use and stuff). But it wont be much of difference. So personal choice if you asked me.

hi, i dont know. I am not a receptionist desk or some sort. I create this thread to help by pointing out the direction. It's you who must walk by it. A little bit of reading is good, cause you will know for a fact. Listen to anyone else will make you end up pointing any fault at someone's else while it's actually yours.

peace
