why HD2600XT in class 1 but 8600GT in class 2?
coz during pc fair saw 2600 get less than 5 for vista rating but 8600 get more than 5 for vista rating rclxub.gif

Good question guys. If u headed to Nvidia.com, they only claim that enthusiast cards starting from 8700m and above, not 8600m gt. Read my comment on the Class 1 personal comments.

We alway overrate 8600m gt for some reason, I'll definitely change it to Class 1, if one of us could prove it could run SOME HIGH settings on any current games (and post it on the benchmark thread will ya wink.gif )

About the HD2600XT, no idea why it should be there, I'll change that later on. Thanx for heads up. I think they were in there because we don't want to see ATi is falling too much behind? Maybe..

I am so envious of you and your GTX. I don't care if it's a loaner. Have fun with it while it's yours.

U need to make sure if ur mobo support it or not. Check it's MXM module (the last M stands for module, but I don't know better terms to use for it)

MXM @ Nvidia site

MXM upgrade website

Now spend some times there to figure it out, since u'll get much more helpful infos there.

Despite the MXM "standard"..it is currently more of a supply chain convenience rather than a real upgrade path since there's no guarantees of 100% compatibiity.

In short, it's not upgradeable especially if it's one generation to the next.

I agree with you.

Basically both ATI and Nvidia classify's their notebook gpu's into

Enthuasiast ( above 30W)
Performance (22-25W)
Mainstream ( <15W)

2600XT is part of the Performance segment. They have a MR 2800 as well but no design wins hence we don't see it in the market.

eddy230379:

If your lappy doens't come with BD or HD-DVD, this hoohah about HD playback is irrelevant lor.
NV also blah blah blah about their vp2 vp3 blah blah blah... but its pretty pointless.

Nice idea ! Actually right now I am forcing myself on doing the class 2 gpu's pros and cons stuff u know. I just got my 8800gt and need some times to spend with it..

I'll add more when I have the time. Any help would appreciate, things like comment I did for the Class 1 gpu will be added if any of us insist of contributing on this thread.
