I think my new Logitech Z-5500 (few days old) just blew a fuse, turned my wall power on, but no red light on the control console sad.gif

Read over google results that the problem lies on the fuses blowing out if the main power is turned on and off often.

Anyone have any idea where I can get these fuses?

Type T2AH250v 2A Timer Delayed

Thanks!

It's easily available in any local shops selling electronic items. Just bring along the fuse and show them.
I have the exact same fuse blown problem with my Z5500 couple of months ago and the fuse replacement solved the problem.

Well I finally got one from the shop I got my speakers from. They werent sure if the fuse has timer delay or not. But my speakers work now. I would like to buy some extras, where did you specifically get yours klee18?

I went to Ace's hardware shop at Midvalley, they had 20mm 2Amps fuses but didnt state if they were 250v or has timer delay. Anyone know if the timer delay thing is necessary?

Ceramic or glass doesnt matter though, wont make a difference apart from glass letting you see if the wire is really broken.

Just need to know if the time delay is necessary.

I'm pretty sure a 4A fuse would be quite a risk. I think you have been looking online and saw 4A on the Z5500s? I think its cause in the US their Z5500s use 4A, while in Malaysia its 2A.

Some people I've talked to has said that 2A 250v fuse would be okay. But not so sure bout the other additional features like Fast Blow/Slow Blow and Time delayed.

From Wiki

"Fuses are often characterized as "fast-blow", "slow-blow" or "time-delay", according to the time they take to respond to an overcurrent condition. The selection of the characteristic depends on what equipment is being protected. Semiconductor devices may need a fast or ultrafast fuse for protection since semiconductors may have little capacity to withstand even a momentary overload. Fuses applied on motor circuits may have a time-delay characteristic, since the surge of current required at motor start soon decreases and is harmless to wiring and the motor."

I belive on the logitech website it says sloblo(slowblow) and time delay on the fuse details.

Looking around on forums someone said to get this type too - 2A 250V Slo Blo fuse. But the slo blo should be for american users. And according to the back of the subwoofer I have, it says 250v 2A time delay.

Which brings back to my original question. Where can I get a 250v 2A time delay fuse here in KL? And if the time delay thing is necesary? tongue.gif

0129022290 - just google the malaysian logitech website and check their contact info there

Synco - you are using a 4A replacement?! omg! tongue.gif let me know what 2As you get and if they work. And where you got them from!

but to sum it up quick, 20mm 4A 250v sloblo should be for US/EU users. while in asia it should be as what it says on the back of the subwoofer - 250v 20mm 2A time delay.

well i have good experience with logitech tech support but not on our side of distributor . My Z5500 exchanged 3 times due to the lcd panel problem . Problems with piak sound when switching input and no surround sound. i bought from ALL IT but as i expected they just refused to exchanged a new set even though i bought it like 2 hours ago . They even kept my warranty card !!
But anyway the logitech tech support direct me to a place where i exchanged 3 new set b4 it is working flawlessly. It is a service centre in subang .

@vermins
well i am not sure which 2A i got but it works . i got them from the electrial shop in imbi plaza on the 1st floor. my 4A fuse runs fine actually for 4 months but hearing what u said early i quickly swap it with a 2A fuse laugh.gif .

because of the current in US is lower than malaysia...if no mistaken...around 125v... high V = low A, and so low V = high A...

i think it is safe to use..but not safe for your speaker if the current flows too strong into ur speaker...speaker might burnt, but fuse might not...

another thing..why my speaker console, sometime off automatically 1...anyone experienced this before?

I used the logitech report thing and still havent replied back to me in many days, so I'm gonna guess i wont ever get a reply from them. I got my Z5500s from ALL IT also and come to think of it, i dont think i have my warranty card either.. WTF! Although the receipt does say its for warranty claims. You can still exchange with logitech service center even without the warranty card?

What detail did you look for on your fuses from imbi? Just 2A? If so, then I can just use the ones from Ace's hardware @ midvalley.

@Aladdin, from reading other forums and stuff on the Z5500s, I believe its cause you have it on mute or something? If there isnt any sound going through or even on mute, it will auto off.

@Vermin
my email reply is within 24 hours , but they dont really help me much in the beginning , call them is the fastest way to get response.
BTW if u bought from ALL IT , they keep all your warranty card , even after i complaint to logitech abt it , ALL IT agreed to them that they will no longer keep the warranty card away from the buyer.

abt the 2A fuse , i just show them the one i had , and they gave it to me.

@129022290
that service centre is onli for logitech certain item , LCD i am sure not under them
