Just got a TZ7 last week. Would've chosen LX3, but it'll be used by whole family hence settled with something more idiot proof tongue.gif

Some questions to ask here...
Any other slimmer casings to recommend? Coz the bundled Lumix one is just too bulky.
And any 3rd party copy battery sold locally? Already planning to get another using the e-voucher (and still cost rm80+ shakehead.gif ) but HD recording sucks the battery dry fast, hence thinking of a third one. (yeah, i've stopped updating at firmware 1.1 biggrin.gif )

LX3 is a fully auto, idiot proof compact camera too. The only let down is the 2.5 x zoom vs TZ7 12x zoom

LYN seller selling RM1350.
The form factor is just like any other compact camera.

The GH1 is a good camera if you don't already have a system. The main problem is getting lenses as there isn't much of a following for Panasonic/Olympus 4/3 lenses. The GH1 uses the newer micro 4/3 system which may require you to get an adaptor to use other 4/3 lenses. Moreover... in that price range there are SLR options from Nikon and Canon that have a more established system and more choices of brand and 3rd party lenses and accessories.

Haven't seen the GH1 yet... but from what I read the sensor is a new sensor. Pricing here not announced yet. Anyway... for RM 4500 you can get a very decent kit or maybe 2 lens kit from their competitors (Canon, Nikon, Sony).

Got it at close to RRP (with tripod (not mini) n 16GB class4 SD) at Harvey Norman, mainly because they accept credit card, haha.
(rm1499 without card n tripod but with screen protector)(other normal shops also most probably rm1450, if u're just normal customer)

I would say, the TZ7 is bulky in terms of thickness, compared to others (give it a hold at the shop. I was playing around with it at Pavilion's Harvey Norman for a very very long time coz they have a little "stage" there for you to take test shots (lots of panasonic cameras for u to choose from) ). And the pouch makes it very much bulkier when taking it out for a walk...

It's very easy if u're familiar with modern digital cameras, n Lumixs' iA mode is idiot proof. As for manual-ish settings that u might wanna tweak... the only thing you cant change is the aperture. Other notable stuffs that i like are the auto-bracketing, extended zoom (EZ) when bring it down to 3MP, and AVCHD lite movie recording! (the dedicated button makes it really easy to suddenly start recording when u feel like it, instead of having to turn the mode-dial n press shutter).

Low light performance is another matter tongue.gif

I'm afraid my parents would be confused with the amount of options at the mode dial... lol (though i guess only 2 modes needed - iA n movie). I had to intro half-press autofocus to my mom.

First time I charge it for 8 hours. Later I check the manual it says one hour plus only. doh.gif
These days I let it charge for about 1hr to 1 hr 20 minutes.
Without flash I get about 100++.
With a spare battery it should be ok for travelling.

Use the Rm150 e-voucher n u get rm79, not really that cheap, but that's your only choice for now. I haven't really counted how many can i go b4 it goes fully empty.

As for charging, does the charger continue charging the batt after the LED light goes off? If not, it's just sitting there, instead of getting overcharged for 8hrs, lol. (I haven't charge it for 8hrs yet)

FS 15 is a step higher than the FS7. Test it... if you like what you see then buy it.
