Alright, despite having setup the PC BUYING GUIDE I still see many people are posting without checking pinned threads.

Furthermore, people are still posting vague requests that leave other forummers no choice but to ask the usual questions. So you get the idea, it's wasting everyone's time and wasting server resources.

Now, before ANYONE starts a "RECOMMEND ME......." thread. Please TRY your best to follow the following guidelines.

1. STATE your budget (RM 4k, RM 2.5k, RM 8k........whatever......)
2. STATE the parts that you wish to re-use (like hard disk, or monitor)
3. STATE your purpose. (Surfing Internet, Watch videos, Downloading, Storage / Print server, Computer gaming..........)
- 3a. If computer gaming - STATE the game, Web Based Games? Flash / JAVA games? (like those in Yahoo!), Old PC Games, Latest PC Games
- 3b. State the monitor you're using and also gaming preference (do you mind not playing in full detail? do you mind playing at low details?)
4. STATE your intended purchase date
5. STATE your preference (AMD or Intel, ATI or nVidia, must have MSI board, monitor must not be LG........whatever)
6. Check the PC BUYING GUIDE for ideas / inspiration on what setup you could achieve with your budget.

By following the above guidelines, you will
1. get your answers faster
2. get better (more accurate) answers
3. you don't waste other forummer's time recommending you things that you don't need or don't want. It's not nice to do that to others. They put their time to setup a rig combo for you to have you shot down by some preference issues that you did not mention earlier. Respect other forummers' time and effort.

-----------------

To the rest of you who are already familiar with this section, you can also give feedback on what to add to the above list. smile.gif

If you see anyone posting vague requests, don't bother setting up a rig. Forward them here first so.

I think you could expand the 3rd guideline (the purpose) into 3 main parts like Primary Purpose, Secondary Purpose and Tertiary Purpose for example

for the hard-core power-user:
PRIMARY: Gaming, graphic design, Chatting, movie editing
SECONDARY: Music, Movies, internet capabilities including online gaming
TERTIARY: Document typing, slideshow, blogging

so this way 1 could recommend better GPU's instead of guessing if the person really puts gaming 1st or 2nd so they won't waste time recommending some entry-level GPUs.

another example:

for the office clerk:
PRIMARY: office typing
SECONDARY: movies, music, internet
TERTIARY: gaming, online videos

so this way 1 would just recommend a mid-range GPU and a mid-range processor with only 1GB RAM needed so as not to waste money on unnecessary power.

i agree, once a while and actually relevant suggestions are actually good, but it gets out of hand when a few pages of this kinda stuff occurs when people are asking for hardware.
