I dunno if anybody posted this already, but here's a new, very interesting circular dock from the guy that brought us WinFlip... MagicFormation!

It is very light on system resources (500k-1MB with the "save physical memory" option checked), very smooth, is very versatile (multiple selectable pages - much like a tabbed dock, system tray functions, customizable PNG icons, customizable layout - straight like a normal dock or the default orbit) and can be started with a mouse gesture (really intuitive stuff here guys) or a keyboard shortcut... It will also suspend itself when it detects a game running (tested with Half-Life 2 Episode 2)... thumbup.gif

The only problems are it uses the ugly icons straight from the exe you're pointing it at if no custom icons are specified and the animations are not customizable (only the default magnify animation available)... And make sure to turn off the "use skin images for icons" under the Icons tab in options to get rid of the ugly bubbles that ring your icons... icon_rolleyes.gif

Pics below, customized mine with kol's BeOS icons from Deviantart...

Looks cool. Downloading now...

Added on November 20, 2008, 12:58 amHaha, using it now. This isn't just look cool, it's really cool. The functionality, customization and all really great. Using it happily now. Thanks TS for sharing this !

Added on November 20, 2008, 1:02 amWell, one thing bothers me though. Sometimes I need to make like two or three circle to make it appear. But doesn't spoil the overall usability.

One more thing. I didn't realize it the first time using it but after playing some games this dock will appear and interrupting the game. That somehow annoys me. Each time I accidentally make a circle when playing a game, this dock will appear destroying the mood of the game. I can't find any other option except to quit the program or pause it every time I want to play a game.

What games do you play? I have NEVER (emphasis given) had MF appearing on me while playing any of me games (BF2:AIX2, Fallout 3, Bioshock, Sins of a Solar Empire, CS:S, HL2, etc.), hence I was recommending it... sweat.gif

SharpE, 3RVX, WallpaperSlideshowLT, Samurize, Switcher, Autohotkey, MF + a heck of a lot of DIY Vista system file modding... brows.gif

Red Alert 3. Other games you mention above is no problem to you eh? Haven't tried on those games, but certainly it interrupted Red Alert 3 that I played.

Aha... I thought so... Was thinking it might be an RTS... sweat.gif

I don't really play RTSs, the closest I get to them would be Sins, but even that's not quite RTS-y... brows.gif
