Kobe's Wrist Injury Adds To Lakers' Woes

The difficulties Kobe Bryant has had prior to the upcoming NBA season have been mostly limited to the issues surrounding trade talk swirling around the Lakers' star.

Now, with a wrist injured suffered during Tuesday night's preseason game against the Utah Jazz , Bryant joins a long list of Lakers who are suffering from different ailments.

"My knee is OK, but my wrist isn't too good," Bryant told the Los Angeles Daily News.

Bryant said he hoped he could play in Friday's preseason finale against the Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas.

Davis An Instant Starter For Heat

After watching the Miami Heat sputter offensively in the preseason, Pat Riley realized his team was in desperate need of perimeter help.

He's counting on newly acquired Ricky Davis to provide an immediate boost.

Davis will slide into the injured Dwyane Wade's spot at starting shooting guard when the Heat open the regular season next week, Riley said Thursday, one day after the Heat pulled off a five-player trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves .

Miami sent Antoine Walker, Michael Doleac and Wayne Simien to the Timberwolves, along with a conditional first-round draft pick for Davis and Mark Blount.

"The securing of a perimeter player who could score, who could shoot, who had experience as a starter transcended all other needs. And that's why we did it," Riley said. "The preseason showed we didn't have what we needed presently at that position, even though I think we have players who can help us."

CHICAGO (AP) -- Kirk Hinrich scored 20 points and Ben Wallace scored eight points before leaving late in the second quarter with a sprained left ankle as the Chicago Bulls defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 97-81 on Thursday night.

In their final preseason game, the Bulls also lost forward Tyrus Thomas in the third quarter with a right foot injury and rookie forward Joakim Noah went down in the fourth quarter with what looked to be a right ankle injury. Neither player returned to the game.

looks like chicago had a disaster game, three big men in injuries

Garnett Gets Triple-Double In Celtics' Rout Of Cavs

Kevin Garnett made a statement against LeBron James and the defending Eastern Conference champions.

Garnett had 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Boston Celtics to a 114-89 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the teams' final preseason game on Friday night.

Ray Allen scored 20 points and Paul Pierce 12 in a game that was more intense than most preseason contests.

"Obviously you're a little jacked up because its the Eastern Conference champions," Garnett said.

Kings' Bibby Out 6-8 Weeks With Injured Thumb

Kings guard Mike Bibby will miss at least the first six weeks of the regular season after tearing a ligament in his left thumb.

Bibby was injured during Thursday's practice, and an MRI revealed the tear Friday night. The injury could sideline the point guard for two months or longer, the team said.

Knicks' Jeffries Injured

New York Knicks forward Jared Jeffries left Friday's preseason finale against the New Jersey Nets with a sprained right knee.

Jeffries suffered the injury after colliding with New Jersey's Richard Jefferson in the first quarter. He was aided to the locker room and later taken to the hospital.

X-Rays On Noah, Wallace Come Back Negative

Bulls center Ben Wallace (Left Ankle Sprain) and forward Joakim Noah (Right Ankle Sprain), who were both injured in last night's preseason win over Milwaukee, had X-rays taken last evening, with both coming back negative.

Both players will be re-evaluated on Saturday.

Tyrus Thomas, who was also hurt during the game, has been listed as day-to-day.

Kevin Durant out again, still questionable for Sonics' opener; Green down, too

Kevin Durant missed his second consecutive preseason game for the SuperSonics Friday night. The second overall pick in June's draft was back in Seattle shooting and walking on a treadmill to test his sprained left ankle.

Then Jeff Green, the fifth overall pick, sprained his left ankle during the third quarter of Friday's game with the Phoenix Suns. He went into the locker room to get treatment, returned to finish the period and general manager Sam Presti said his key rookie was fine. But then Green went back into the locker room for good at the start of the fourth quarter having scored 13 points.

Got my hands on the NBA LIVE 08 game and my favorite team currently is the Celtics.
Seriously they lack backcourt power and somehow having the Big 3 together makes me feel comfortable enough.
Hopefully they will be as great as the name sounds, "big" enough to be champions whistling.gif biggrin.gif

Not to say they lack but just their bench powers are rather weak.
I am hoping to see Bowe more in action though (in real life) cause i've seen him play before and i think he has great potential if he can work a bit on his footwork. He is pretty fast for a big guy like him.
Rondo i think is having some good time playing together with the big 3 and this is a really good thing for a well renovated team.

Actually not necessary the best center but for now, i just wish that they have a formidable center figure. Maybe Brown/Bynum/Mihm can take the post but all these players have never been consistent.
