QUOTE(rudhrasamy @ Sep 20 2007, 07:27 PM) so wacky angel is actualy suggesting to buy a big tent n put it in our garage for no use... thats not cheap diy la maybe wat he meant was putting something that could extend the signal of the antenna la juz like i used to attach a wire to my small tv antenna to get a better signal |

Actually, the curve plate will only act as a reflector. Reflecting the signals towards the receiver.
It does not add 12dB to 15dB to the receiver. But concentrated signal "Could be" around that much gain. However, I don't think it'll work the same magic when it's in transmitting mode though... |

It should work too, as it will concentrate the transmitted signals in a single direction. But of course must be correct direction la...It does not add 12dB to 15dB to the receiver. QUOTE(deric88 @ Sep 23 2007, 04:53 PM) It's ok. It's pretty interesting n has got to do with modding parts for the PC. If u guys do a bit more googling u'll find a vey nice n simple wifi booster mod called the Pringles Cantenna. U know the Pringles potato? Ya that Pringles, no joke. Google this-> Cantenna. I know you can direct your antenna's wave in a certain direction you want using tin foil and something semi circle. Building one...not sure if it works, or has MIMO function

There was a bunch of physics students in USM that did their final year paper on this topic, seems its actually effective. If I have time (which I doubt) I can go look up their report somewhere.

interesting thread. i have already modded my usb wifi b4 also with a cookware item. (dunno wat name, like a penapis minyak or sumthing). n yes, it really does help improve signal. i get bout 5-15db extra. not much different though. but that was last time when i was staying in condo n wanted use condowifi.
