Whops. Sorry. Very busy lately. Didn't really have time to tinker with my Vostro also.

Got mine at 3.5K.

Comparing 1 to 1 for Vostro and Inspiron for my machine's specs:

Vostro 1400 was quoted RM3553. Inspiron 1420 was quoted RM3837.

Difference is Inspiron had 3 years limited warranty and Vostro had 1 year complete warranty.

I've gone through as well
I see Vostro is cheaper compare to Inspiron also
and 1 thing is, customized Vostro with 8400gs is below Rm3k drool.gif
btw, any users tried on the game performance? cause 1 of my friend with Rm3k budget thought to buy 1, I wonder if T5470 + 2gb Ram + 8400gs able to play WoW?

upgrading ram is as cheap as RM105 for Kingston 1GB DDR2 667, thus 2 stick will cost u RM210, and with the extra of original 512mb tht u might sell it off

i hv seen inspiron 1420 for both ultrasharp n matte type 1280x800, and i appreciate matte screen where the viewing angel is a lot lot better, and contrast is similar though
*

thank you wtm0325 for the informative and useful comments, noted you mentioned matte screen "better"

QUOTE(death_nite @ Sep 30 2007, 05:23 PM)
upgrading ram outside dell wont void warranty.

but, if u sell ur original ram, then later u try to claim warranty, might void ur warranty. especially if ur mobo burnt due to the new ram, dell wont change it under warranty.

as safety, do not sell ur original ram. in case anythg happen, just put back the old ram. smile.gif
*

thanks for the advise. anyway how ofter does mobo get burned? Use few laptops/notebooks before never happen, usually HD fails or out dated due to newer OS so got to change.

i have done comparison with Inspiron 1420 which comes with webcam and BT. Once these two items are added to Vostro basic unit, the price of the Vostro 1400 is actually higher. For me i don't need webcam and getting the Vostro because its black and have sealed keyboard.
