I cant never imagine how many billions they earned from us, comparing to the UK i am paying about RM200 for 20mb broadband with unlimited downloads. Paying 1mb for RM88-99 is nonsense and in other way we should be getting premium 1mb international bandwidth not 56K pariah speed. I feel ashame with this kind of CEO, i hope she or he will not nominated as the malaysia best CEO of the year but maybe the best actor or director in oscar awards.

The CEO is male or female?

I thought the current acting CEO is female.

just now i try to do some TEST

1. I open an online game, winamp and firefox = 100% cpu usage and downloaded a file from rapidshare = 8Kb/s
2. Close winamp left online game and firefox = 85% cpu usage and downloaded at a bit improve speed
3. Close online gaming left firefox open = 1-5% cpu usage and downloaded at 120Kb/s

so its either the capability of processor handling informations or the online gaming just choked the bandwidth

note : i will try to stress the processor again with other softwares than online games

Gaming sucks lot of Upload then download. When it sucks upload a lot , download speed goes down dramatically cause as upload 'jams' the download.

As you know , gaming sends a lot of packet. Packet Loss in gaming = you getting your head pawned by some n00b or haxxxor. So its vital for the game to send lots of packets. When lots of packet are being sent by the game to its server , it causes constriction of bandwidth. So other applications will have problem using the Internet.

Is there a way to overcome this -- > Yes , use QoS. With QoS , you can still enjoy downloading at high speeds without chocking the game or the download speed. Its prioritises packets first , so gaming packet goes first followed by the download pa cket. So its win-win situation . If you dont do QoS , it causes a traffic jam !

TM gets to the root of customer's woes

IT was a surprise for Ku Wei Hoong, a reader who wrote in to The Malay Mail complaining about Streamyx on Thursday.

It was none other than the chief executive officer of TM (Malaysia Business) Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa and TM general manager (customer service management) Ahmad Ismail who attended to his queries on Saturday.

Ready to get to the bottom of the problem, Zamzamzairani brought in two engineers of the 'flying squad', Mohd Hafzza Abdul Wahab and Khairul Ahmad Hassan, to find out why Ku could only get the speed of not more than 10kb when he was paying RM88 for a 1MB connection.

They spent more than an hour at Ku's house in Pandan Indah and discovered the problem was due to Ku's two-year-old laptop.

"We tried his connection several times on our laptop and it was all right. The connection was a little sluggish for international sites but that would depend on the number of users," said Zamzamzairani.

"We are concerned as we have always stressed on quality in Streamyx. Our plea to customers is to understand that we are constantly upgrading the facilities.

"For instance, we are spending RM2.5 billion within the next five to seven years for the Next Generation Network, a fully Internet Protocol based to improve Internet application."

Ku said he would get a new laptop soon.

"I accept the explanation by the team but am surprised they were really concerned about the subscribers' problems."

In his letter published in The Malay Mail on Thursday, Ku claimed he had been getting a dial-up speed of not more than 15kb and at peak hours, between seven and 10kb.

A subscriber for the past five years, Ku had said he still believes that TMNet must be given a chance to improve.

Use Folding@Home to stress test your CPU. You can find infor about Folding@Home at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/154966

A game is not the right way to stress a CPU as it also stresses the whole computer system. It makes everything slow which is why the download speed dropped so much.

err... seems like the article was written based on tmnet's interests. You really should write in again to explain what happened and shoot down all the twists they did to the story. Else more and more technology illiterate people will get suckered into it.
