You're using the external floppy right? I'm not sure why as well because its how XP Setup loads driver by default. Actually i'm having problems with the floppy part earlier and that's why i find other ways to put the drivers into the disc in the first place. Normally it *should* work unless you put in the wrong driver so even if it shows the driver it won't install.

The floppy part of the tutorial is just what you're suppose to do with the drivers and i never created something new. I only made the slipstreaming part which works for me. Perhaps you want to give my slipstream part a try which should save you all the hassle if you're installing XP into more SATA HDD next time as it contains *almost* all common drivers.

EDIT: I did some finding on my part and just for your assurance. From the model of your notebook Aspire 4310 when you put in the driver, XP should load "Intel 82801GM SATA RAID CONTROLLER (MOBILE ICH7MR/DH)".

Erm? That's the error on my slipstream guide or not?

Because if its not, i can't gurantee that it would be error-less for everyone since everyone would be popping in all different kinds of versions of XP to slipstream rclxub.gif

I want to ask something.Everyone says you have install sata driver before installing winxp because winxp will not detect sata HDD before driver installation. But that rule looks like not applied for me.Previously I used WinXP SP2 and every I installed windows it will detect and install windows like normally. No need to install driver and all.Can anyone tell whats the reason?

2 reasons :

1) Your XP *IS* already slipstreamed with the drivers
2) All the machine you installed to somehow have native SATA support which turns SATA = PATA which lets XP detect and install.

If its not related question to my guide, i suggest you make a new post on the problem. I want to try keep the thread clean though...

You can't uninstall an OS. Format XP over your Vista and it should be fine.

Got it!! in fact you don't have to unzip the driver's pack! just plonk it inside the DriverPacks folder.
