Hello! I'm having a trouble purchasing the laptop from Lenovo's official website. Earlier today, I made a purchase with my debit card which have a balance of RM5k. I didn't know that Lenovo will make several pre-authorization charge amounting to the laptop's price. Now my order is on hold due to credit issue (they cannot pre charge me anymore since my balance is not enough).

So does anyone here have experienced this before? What am I supposed to do? Also anyone here have made a payment via direct deposit? I may have to cancel my order and get the pre-auth charge back and pay via bank transfer.

I’m a student, so I don't have 3 times the price of the laptop (roughly RM15k). Have you used the direct deposit method before?

First time using credit card issit?

Pre-auth charge is a form of verification used by the Vendor (Lenovo) to ensure that your credit card is still being used, the amount is most likely between RM1 to USD1 (depending on country) and the charged amount is usually refunded or withdrawn, once your credit card + transaction is verified.

1. How much did Lenovo "charged" you for the "pre-auth"?
2. How much was the Legion 5i that you were trying to buy? Was it because the price of the laptop exceed your credit card limit of RM5000?

Actually it was a debit cart, that is why this problem occurs. Lenovo charged me the laptop price which is RM4800, more than once. So I will need to have around RM15000 in my account for all the pre-auth to pass which is crazy to me. Why can’t they just hold the RM4800 and recharge me only when the hold is expired? Now I have to email Lenovo payment team to cancel the order.

I might have to buy elsewhere since the direct deposit method feels very insecure to me.

A blessing I suppose....with the recent announcement....going w AMD maybe the better buy....

How about asking a family member to use their credit card... They would not charge until the item ships...

I made payment via direct deposit. Just make sure transfer made using non-instant transfer option and then email the transfer receipt to lenovo. I did ask the customer support about paying with debit cards but they advised against it and suggested direct deposit.

Got it, now only have to email their payment team to cancel my order. Thank you for answering, you’ve been more helpful than Lenovo cs lol

Yup, really a blessing, however Legion 5 now LENXCIMB coupon not working?

@TS, please do research what coupon code to use once you get your order cancelled, hint LENXCIMB

Also, please get it in writing and contact your debit card bank saying they will cancel your order and block the charges or reverse the pre auth

Having some money stuck on debit card really not okay

Disclosure: I did purchases Legion 5 recently
Also Intel Tiger Lake is coming too if you prefer Intel based

Thanks for the heads up, the coupon works but SALE10 gives a lot more discount (at least on my config). Already contacted my bank, they told me Lenovo have to reverse the preauth and the money will be available in my account immediately.

Btw, when did you purchase the laptop? I'm afraid there will be shipping delays so I went with Legion 5i.

Oh wow that's a lot quicker than I expected, I see so many people complaining about really late deliveries especially people from India. Maybe not many people bought online in Malaysia that's why you got it pretty quick, or you're just damn lucky lol. Did you configure anything? Because one of the main reason I want to buy from the official online store apart from the discount is that I want the upgraded screen which is brighter and more colour accurate. Hope that will not cause any major delay.

That’s weird because AMD model shows 6-8 weeks shipping time while Intel shows within 3 weeks. Which was also among the reasons why I went with Intel, and the GTX 1660 Ti.

Regarding this, I read the press release article and it said "starting this summer" so maybe mid or late August. What a bummer since I need the laptop for my study in early September. Well I guess I'll try my luck and hope that they release early enough for the laptop to arrive by the end of August. sweat.gif

Do u still remember lenovo account number? I'm confused since there are 2 different account number. On order confirmation (website) it start with 1. but on email, it start with 0. Refer the attachment.
