Ya, it is consider water set if you get through the custom. If your phone get caught, then you apply for AP from SIRIM at Shah Alam, pay them RM200 + 10% tax when you collect your item from Pusat Mel and Kurier KLIA.

There is no specific shops to buy Originally Distributed phones. You can go to any phone shop and tell them you want and original set from the authorized dealer and they will get the stock for you. After all should there be any problem with your original phone, you should send it back to the SE center rather than the phone shop for repairs. smile.gif

Low quality I don't think so. Personally, I am using an AP Nokia phone and the battery life is satisfactory and the charger is good. Normaly AP set comes with compatitable parts and accesories.

If the phone is from CSL you can claim the warranty from them. But somewhat from I know, if they can't repair your phone, they will still send it back to the phone's respective service centers for repairs.

As for Singapore phones, hmm I was told that, they phones they have there are originally distributed from the companies like you have mention smile.gif The phones there are generally cheaper because the buyer is subjected to a bond with the telco from what I know.

if u buy from spore, under contract from starhub or singtel, for sure the sets are original, but u have to sign contract with them.
to sign contract, u have to be a spore citizen, a pr there or working or studying there..

I wanted to know that the box and all the accessories are all the same with the original sets? Like what the original package include, it also include?
Besides that, since AP phone was imported from oversea, will it mean that those AP phones like Nokia were actually make by Nokia company at other country?
And how should i know which AP company is supporting my phones.

And i also dunno how to check for dead pixels. sad.gif

This is my experience from just having bought two Nokia phones within a week. One Original and one AP set.

AP SET
1. the box IMEI doesnt tally with the Phone's IMEI
2. the accessories like charger and battery does not have the Nokia Original sticker but the battery still has the 3D hologram. whether these are original or not is questionable. You can buy these types of accessories from Lowyat at a much lower price than the real original accessories. And my feeling is that these lower price item are being used.
3. if your phone comes with additional covers, the colours may not match the original set as intended.
4. if your headset, battery or charger is spoil, you must take it back and exchange from the dealer you bought it from and not from the AP distributor workshop. The AP workshop only warrants the phone itself. This also leads me to believe that the AP company only sells the phones itself to the dealers and not the accessories which is sourced by the dealers themselves. You draw your own conclusion from this.
5. different AP distributors will have different set of rules and also different length of warranty
6. AP set still have the KELAS Sirim sticker. It will also have the AP distributor cum "date sold" sticker.

So if your question is "should I buy AP or Original" -
1. it depends on how much savings - if a lot of difference then its worth it. If save RM100 or RM200, I think not worth it.
2. if you care about whether the battery or charger is original or not and worth the savings from the difference in price
3. if you are located in Klang Valley or outstation - this because most AP workshop are in the Klang Valley so imagine the trouble of sending your set back only to discover that the charger is not working. Then need to send the charger to the dealer. All these can be quite troublesome and the risk of losing your phone thru the mail system.

This note on how to tell if your Nokia is an Original or not -

want to ask, for most AP companies, if they rejected our warranty, does that mean they refuse to repair or they want our $$ before repairing ?

what is the definition of warranty outlined by most AP distributors ? Is it wholly FREE PART and FREE labor ? or just free labor only ?

And is it worthy to top up some money in order to extend the warranty to 2 years ? There's an LYN seller which offer this option

Actually some AP companies like Telstra only offer 2 years warranty. (they don't have any 1 year warranty, so I guess they are pretty extablished) - I just bought 2 AP set - Nokia and SE with confidence - the charger, batteries and accessories all look new and original. Difference of 200-300 in price between AP and ori set is quite a lot to some people like me.
