A couple of months ago (16/2/07) I sent a hard disk for RMA at the Pristine branch in Bukit Jambul. Initially, within a month I was told that Pristine's supplier did not want to RMA it as the hard disk was not bought from Pristine though I had paid a service charge earlier. However, when I went to collect it again, I was told they managed to send it for RMA after all (I think through another supplier, though I'm not certain of this) though it would take another month before it would be done.

A month later (mid-april) I received the hard disk, and it was obvious that it was the same unit from the untouched warranty stickers from the original seller (somewhere in Klang valley). However the circuit board looked new, so I accepted it as I thought the original fault was due to the ciruit board being faulty. I did not managed to try out the disk till about a month later, and when I did it seemed to be ok as it would now format properly. Previously it would never finish formatting, no matter how long I waited, and windows would become corrupted even sortly after a full reinstall; only by using another hard disk would everything be ok.

The problem started after barely a few weeks of normal use, windows would become corrupted again. It would still format properly, but reinstalling windows only resulted in the same problem after a while. In the end I finally ran seagate's diagnostic utilities, and the hard disk failed the read test. I tried on another PC, and got the same result.

Can you help me on this? The hard disk is still under warranty till 19-Jan-2010, I've included the receipts from the RMA.

Thats the funny thing. NO bad sectors at all, even with repeated scans.
